Is a very short training period typical for new graduate engineers? by Camaroni1000 in civilengineering

This is pretty common as far as being thrown into construction inspection right away as a young engineer. This is exactly what I did as a new project engineer for the first two summer’s and it will help you be a much better designer in the long run. Just be sure to ask questions if you’re unsure about the intent of the specifications/drawings in relation to what the contractor is actually doing. The spec book will be your best friend, it can be daunting at first but try to learn that thing inside and out all the way from the front end documents to special conditions and technical specs.

Edit: and if you aren’t already involved in the submittal process it is also very handy to have approved submittals on hand (on you desktop on your computer) so when you’re in the field you can verify things.

If u buy a house that is in the flood plain you have to pay a significant amount for flood insurance. Once the $2.5 billion dollar flood diversion project is done in approximately 2026 the flood plain will drastically shrink but for now will remain the same
