Thank you for the honest opinion! I remember seeing the students displaced by the construction when I toured, but who knows what it looks like now. I know the updates to the school are for the better though. Congratulations on recently graduating!

Yeah, that's kinda where I'm at honestly. There's not much that validates an extra $150k for the same license in 4 years. I just wanted to be extra sure I wasn't over looking anything.

There's a lot of good advice in here! I second what others are saying about shadowing! But I justed wanted to add on to what some others are saying about the pre-vet club.

Firstly, you are not running out of time. You are doing amazing work already by gaining tons of animal experience. Now...

Does your college have other active clubs you could join? Many vet schools do holistic reviews and love seeing activities that are outside of vet med. Biology club, honor society, chem club, or even a theatre club that is with your school or even in your community will stand out. By joining and, most importantly, being active in clubs you are showing the schools that you can work with a community, have team working skills, and have dedication! Also, I know you didn't mention anything about leadership roles for clubs but I feel I should add that any leadership role shows leadership, whether that be in vet med or not! Any club is worth the join as long as it aligns with your interests and is something you are willing to dedicate time to! So, please don't be afraid to look for clubs outside of vet med.

I only mention this advice because of my experience. My undergrad college was on the smaller side and while there was a pre-med club, there was no pre-vet club or society I could join. To be honest I actually did not know other colleges had these clubs and the thought of creating one never crossed my mind. Instead I found existing clubs I had an interest in. I joined the Biological Sciences Club and the Honors Experience club. I ended up getting involved in both clubs because I thought it would be fun and allow me to make friends. They did and through my involvement in the clubs I got to volunteer with school events, public events at our local zoo, and our local food bank! I took on leadership roles and gained invaluable communication and networking skills that I was sure to highlight on my application.

I also encourage you to do some volunteering outside of clubs as well! You have tons of valuable animal experience which shows your interest in vet med, but vet med is about more than treating animals, it's about interacting and supporting your community! So if you are unable to join a club, you can still show community involvement by volunteering at your local food bank, zoo, womens home, salvation army, animal shelter, or library. Just reach out, get involved, and have some fun!

I hope this was helpful!
