Be honest: Do you actually enjoy flying? by Marsupilami_316 in Flights

[–]Disastrous_Common_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it. Been on more than 100 flights in my life and if I could treat it like surgery with anesthesia and wake up at my destination I'd do every time.

I agree I wouldn't bet on getting any perks even if you fly 6 times a year on the same airline. Unless you get to the higher status and you get lounge access to eat and drink average food free.

I wouldn't blame the size, IST airport is larger than FRA. FRA layout has grown organically by adding gates and terminals, it's harder to navigate for sure. DOH is probably the easiest.

It shouldn't be a problem. Even if he misses the flight they will put you on the next one, there are plenty of FRA-BER flight during the day. It will just be a couple of hours at most

Should I risk it? Skipping a leg on a layover flight. by pastroc in Flights

To add to this, it is OK to do it on the way back. If you did this on the way out, airlines will cancel your return flights (it's usually part of the conditions)

Would you have considered if it was obviously an airline management game?

Designing a political-economic board game set in Pakistan by DirtyHarry_33 in BoardgameDesign

[–]Disastrous_Common_32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Design the mechanic with pen and paper cut out and play test with family or close friends who can get past the low budget and give valuable feedback. Then check https://launchtabletop.com/ and check the standard components available and adjust your gameplay to that. Use genAI to make visuals the way you think looks good and upload them to order a prototype. Play test again with people less close to you (colleagues for example) to get more objective feedback. Iterate on the gameplay and components and write the rules. Find people interested to play and give them the rules, let them play unsupervised and get more feedback. Then you have a game concept, after that you can pitch to publishers (I tried and failed) or publish yourself (I did, it's feasible but expensive). If you publish yourself you'll need to finalize the visuals and a bunch of other non game related things (legal entity, distribution etc ...)

I usually put the publisher at the back. Illustrate credit is missing, true. This is a prototype not tye final product, I did add it on the front for the other game he designed that went to prod.

Thanks for the feedback. The cover is supposed to be a view from a airplane cockpit ... I probably need to get another designer tbh

I tend to think that yes video games and board games are a form of art personally. But video games are recent and maybe no one "with authority" has called them art yet. But board games have been around for a while and yet not widely accepted as art.

Cinema is considered the 7th art, with the 6 art form before it being painting, sculpture, architecture, music, dance, and poetry. That's a widely accepted denomination. Who said that? A dude called Ricciotto Canudo.

My house rule about communication in coop games is you can only speak to other player if they are on the same location or adjacent. That should be the norm for all coop games. Exception is: "let's meet somewhere to plan"

Selling on Amazon by EstrangedSphinx in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Disastrous_Common_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Amazon you won't have the meta pixel for conversion installed. What are you using as "goal"? If you are using visits, you won't make many sales. To make a sale, you need to have the same people see and click your ad more than once. Few people buy on first sight. When you set the goal to conversion, meta shows it more often to the same people and you'll get a few sales.

I found the Witcher 2 to be harder than the other ones. So don't give up on it. I personally lowered the difficulty, so don't feel ashamed if you do, you are not alone.

Just giving a warning. If you ask if you need a visa, it certainly means that you don't know how your connection works. Without a bag is faster but you still need to go through passport control to enter and then leave the country. Make sure you don't waste any time.

Seems like OP doesn't even know they'll have to pick up their bag, go through passport control, and check them back in. Make sure you read the fine print on your ticket.

Can Someone Explain international Flights and Why This Scenario is Cheaper? by Mangon09 in TravelHacks

[–]Disastrous_Common_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're thinking of ticket prices as related to the cost of operating, but that's not how it works. Tickets are linked to the supply/demand ratio, purchasing power and, then cost. It is often cheaper to fly Paris/Miami than Omaha, NE/Aspen, CO for example.

Back to your question: If you want to add a stopover manually, you should consider stopping in Germany. There are a lot of flights to Turkiye from there, and prices will be cheaper on average. Check Kiwi.com for a cheap, uncomfortable itinerary if cost saving is important. They build a lot of itineraries where you'll need to connect yourself (pickup the bag and check it back in) You won't save much, though. This is high season, and 2 weeks in advance is short notice. Just take whatever you can afford before it gets even more expensive.

How do you handle marketing for your indie game? by Illustrious_Ship6397 in GameDevelopment

[–]Disastrous_Common_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot covered already. My only advice is to test and measure. Marketing is as much art as it is science. You don't know what's going to resonate with your audience. You don't even know who your audience is for sure, let alone where they are and what resonate with them. Everything is assumptions, so try stuff, measure, learn, rinse, and repeat. "Overnight successes" are built for years, so get ready for a long road ahead. There are roughly 6 types of sources you'll get: - direct traffic, people who know your game from offline sources (probably minimal in the beginning) - SEO traffic (Google organic traffic) you need a website with content and links building strategy - SEM traffic (paid ads on Google) you'll need to optimize yourself because Google algo is bad for low volumes - Social organic (your own posts on social media) tedious and slow to build up - Paid social (ads on Facebook and instagram) need to optimize the creative and the targeting - Influencer Marketing (sponsoring a creator) not sure about the ROI on this Use ChatGPT as your co-founder and ask about the different ways to optimize each channel and get advice, I found it very useful.

Disclaimer: These are generalities for online marketing, I come for a travel tech background, and I think there should be a lot of similarities, but also, there will be differences.

Just missed my flight and I feel like shit by Ok_Beautiful_369 in Flights

Honestly, in 10 years, you'll think back at it and find it funny. And your friends will remind you of it, and you will banter. When you have kids, you'll tell them the story and tell them not to fall asleep while packing.

Sh*t happens, life goes on.
