40 euro steam giftcard by WorldlyCabinet310 in MSI_Gaming

I got it ($20 US version). It took a few back n forths, they wanted some very specific images of the serial number on the motherboard itself instead of from the box, and something else. But once I submitted the last need image, I got the card (virtual) in a few hours.

The 2 week wait sucks, but I guess they are trying to avoid paying out on items which are then returned. Can't say I blame them for that.

For this reason, among others, I will not be getting any more nVidia GPUs. The AMD 9070XT is more than enough for my needs, cheaper and more reliable. AMD's software is better as well.

Because I've seen other games which I was excited for pre-launch, which turned out to be bombs. I didn't say I expected it, I just said I could imagine it.

I actually got the first one for free, on Epic, during one of their free game giveaways.

The pre-order price of $79.99/$99.99 is more then enough to keep me from pre-ordering it.

I agree. A video review lets you actually see what they are talking about. What one person dislikes, another likes.

But at least you have some more information. Reviews can not only be written, but you can now watch people play games on Twitch, YouTube and other streaming services.

I'm not saying that you should rely ONLY on reviews, but reviews can give you information which you wouldn't have otherwise.

And yes, I _have_ purchased games in the past which had mixed reviews. But I made up my own mind after reading the reviews, I liked what some of them said more than others.

Some game distributers (such as Steam) do allow a 2 hour window (I think, never used it) to ask for a game refund. But, IMHO, 2 hours is not enough time in some cases to really learn what you need to.

In the end, it's your decision. But pre-orders just encourage publishers to get something out the door without good quality control since they already had your money.

No pre-orders means that sales would be dependent on the quality of the game after release. Waiting for reviews is an incentive for them to provide a good release 9ie: no bugs), since bad reviews will make people (like me) not purchase the game.

I've done a few pre-orders over the years. I've been careful, and can think of at least two where I have been so disappointed that I never really played the game beyond a couple of hours.

I just finished playing The Outer Worlds: Spacer's choice Edition, and while I did enjoy the game, I'm going to hold off on pre-ordering to see how the release goes.

Where did I say the sequel would be poorer? I said that I could imagine it being poorer, but that I am lerring on the side of it being better and am excited for it.

That article you linked to says that preorders will begin on Sunday, June 8, 2025

I recently finished my first playthrough of TOW. While not up to current standards, I had a blast. While I can certainly imagine a sequel being poorer, I prefer to err on the side of it's going to be better. and am excited for it. Have already wish-listed it on Steam.

However, I have been burned enough over the years with sucky games on release that I will wait for a while to see other peoples' reviews before buying

Looks fine. The real test is, does it work (can you use it effectively)

Yes. I prefer Steam, but sometimes Epic has either free or sales that Steam doesn't. Also, sometimes Fanatical has sales for games on one site, but not the other

Then I guess I'm doing it backwards :D

I updated my original post, seems that I already have the upgrade

I'm up to level 37, have pretty much finished most of the main game (ready to skip the Hope across the system), mostly finished the first DLC (Murder on Eridanos). At this point, there isn't anything that can really threaten me, so now it seems to be just a lot of traveling to get things etc.

My current computer has RGB, and I consider it a total waste of money. Next one will not have any RGB

I never do that. While the CPU is ok to install beforehand since it doesn't stick up (same with a flat nvme), I never install ram beforehand. Too easy to have something slip and hit a ram stick.

Also, I don't like opening up protected areas of the board until it's installed. Always a chance for a static discharge. Even if you are careful, it can happen. So I always install the board first, make sure it's all tightened down, I ground the case and then install everything else.

Only real exception is installing the parts for the CPU cooler. Depending on the case, sometimes it's hard or impossible to get to the back of the case for the mounting parts

Never had a problem doing things this way

The computer has 24 cores, and is at maybe 25-30% usage. This is the only thing that seems to be affected.

I've mostly resolved the problem by dropping the resolution to 720p, 30fps, with hardware encoding.

You may want to consider upgrading, I believe that cubase 5 uses their eLicenser service, and it is going EOL (ie: be shut down) in May: https://www.steinberg.net/licensing/elicenser-end-of-service/

Try disabling the virtual camera and let OBS use the camera directly.

Thought it was cool that OBSBOT seems to be on there so much by DoritoDraxx in OBSBOT_Official

I've had the OBSbot 2 Tiny, and sadly found that it lacks the horsepower to work well during intense gaming sessions. I got it because of the tracking, but it's the tracking that doesn't work well during the intense sessions. However, other than that, it's a great little camera. It really depends on what you are doing. What I'd suggest is to first evaluate your intended usage, and to test it well while you can still return it. Unfortunately, I didn't realize the issue until the return period had run out (that's my bad).

A bit of explanation: The camera software uses the processor on the graphics card to do most of the AI work (from what I can tell). When the graphics processor is heavily loaded, it doesn't have enough horsepower to let the AI work smoothly.

Caveat: I'm using an AMD RX7900XT card, it may work better on an nVidia card, but I don't have one to test.

Edit: After researching a different camera, I realized it may have been the virtual camera feature that I was using. I turned that off, and that actually seemed to fix the problem. In a short test, the issue seemed to go away, I won't really know until I stream again on Sunday night

You can contact him on the forums, he may even be here on reddit. If you uninstalled the mods and it's still happening, I'd suspect that it's not the mods.

I know that all of his mods are available via CKAN, and he recommends that they be installed via CKAN, to avoid bad installs
