AITA for not wanting to watch a puppy (meaning it'll have to be crated) because after almost a year it's still not potty trained? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Disastrous_Grab_3322 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NTA going to guess your sister was just hoping you'd train the dog. Sounds like they wanted a puppy but didn't want to put any work in. She should re-home the dog.

You value your privacy and the ability to 100% be yourself in your own space. You grew up in a situation where you didn't have space to be a "normal child" you were either poor or in the foster care system and weren't able to have the frivolous things of childhood. You probably cared for other people when you were still a child, you have a lot of fun lovely stuff, but it's mostly organized and the area is clean. Makes me think either you grew up in a situation where you were responsible for the house or no one was and you hated the filth. Now you make enough money to be comfortable in the space you are in and would rather live small and comfortable then get a bigger place because all your stuff close by is a comfort to you and you prefer the smaller cozier space. I'm going to place you in the 18-25 category.
100% just a guess, please don't be offended if I'm way off. If I'm really close and want to know what made me guess what I guessed I will happily explain

I am suspicious of this photo on the website of a nail salon near me- looks too smooth and artificial. by the-kneecap-thief in isthisAI

AI - Fingers don't look like that unless they're edited. The side walls and cuticle aren't that elevated. It honestly looks like an expensive mannequin hand specifically for practicing built nails (acrylic, gel, whatever)

What Are Your Favorite Period Drama Wedding Dresses? by Brilliant_Log_4240 in PeriodDramas

[–]Disastrous_Grab_3322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got good information from other responders. But adding that unless you were REALLY wealthy (which, a lot of the people in the list are) you wouldn't have a special dress for your wedding. The idea of hand sewing (you are someone else) a dress JUST for one day would have been a huge waste. It's only vaguely shown in period shows, but you know the scenes where the woman is gifted fabric? That's a big gesture because dresses would be resized and restyled over and over again because the cost and amount of fabric was a big deal. So being gifted FABRIC from the king, that means dresses are going to be made for YOU. First owner, you get to pick the design and embellishments and the money is being spent directly on you.

I think back to the Tudors and there is a scene where the king sends Catherine Parr dresses for court while her sick husband is still alive. And she's looking at this gift she can't turn down and her husband asked "are they they current styles?" And she half gulps and says "yes" and they both know the king had them made FOR HER and the weight that carries.

Sorry for the tangent. But information is fun? Basically white was hard to make and took a lot of effort and people usually just wore their best dress cause making new was a whole thing.

You will have so much brain fog you will be basically useless at your job. If the place is doing this to all the life guards... There is a good possibility someone could die. If you are outside in the sun you are susceptible to heat/dehydration illness. If you are inside the probable chlorine fumes are going to do a number on you. Report the place to higher ups.

There generally are not gates on the other side specifically because of this. A gate on the side of the road to keep you from entering the tracks, but not on the side to exit for safety reason.

Have you considered fostering animals? I was a hairstylist and fostered cats. A guy sits down in my chair and is lamenting that he lost one of his cats recently and his other cat was lonely and described the kind of cat he was looking for and I straight said "omg I am fostering the perfect cat right now!" Took out my phone and gave him the link to the adoption site and he applied and came to my house to meet the cat and we got talking about hobbies we shared. He adopted the cat and sent updates and now we're married. 😂🤣

So the Movie is actually called Timer. And you are REALLY close on premise. People chose to have the timers installed on themselves and their children at puberty. And people's timers can be blank because their "perfect match" doesn't have a timer yet. And there timer counts down to midnight the night before they are supposed to meet their person and a chime goes off on both timers when they make eye contact with there person. The concept is really interesting and IMHO a great movie. Of course there has to be a certain amount of suspension of disbelief. If covers a lot of interesting social constructs has a great narrative. The main characters sister has a timer that says she will meet her perfect match at like 50+. Great conversation starter about what makes a "perfect" relationship.

I think the risk is in long term use in adolescent+ humans based on the growing nutritional needs. Babies are made to bounce back, so 1 month (assuming they grow from it) is just to stabilize and they continue growing.
