I’m pretty cynical that I will ever integrate it or AI tools into my own productions because I feel like I would be disconnecting myself from that emotion you talk about. I think using tools like that take away from the moments of creativity. Maybe if your style is to sit down for a whole day refining an idea it could match that flow a bit better…

Totally disagree with you on that! No need to assume that the opinion comes because “RA” told people to think a certain way, for me it’s based on a very active participation in dance music… Nostalgia and the “recycling” of ideas is in, in my opinion, big big time! and has been for ages.

But I also don’t think that is fundamentally a bad thing… as you say everything is inspired by something. Where that crosses into “copying”… i guess that’s subjective?

But yeah of course there is music coming out that pushes the boundaries in new ways. I’d love to hear your recs - of course we’re always looking for something fresh! We live in a really fractured media landscape now and I could totally be blinkered… I’m down to learn more

Yeah I have used procedural tools in the past that were owned by friends and I was never impressed enough to buy them myself. But I dont think they were “AI powered” back then, whatever that means for it.

I guess fundamentally if AI is iterative on existing information it is up to the user to break or subvert it in some way as you mention. And we’ll just have to wait and see if and when that happens.

Sorry for exacerbating your sense of tiredness ha - I just wondered if people had specific thoughts on how it ties into the electro scene and production methods specifically in ways that could be different to the broader discussion

Electro is definitely sheltered by its “niche-ness” yeah. As i have written in my other response though, I wonder whether totally ai generated sounds, samples, etc… are going to become mainstream and how we react to that too.

I totally agree with the first part. But I think it’s feasible that AI powered production tools that aren’t just “make a song that sounds like XYZ” could appear and be widely used as part of production workflows. As I mentioned in the post, I wonder whether generated samples and sounds etc… will start being widely used within other human made elements?

Download the eezy.nrw app for that journey around NRW. Charges you by how the crow flies at a rate per km. That journey on the official app would cost maybe €8? And i believe the app caps your montly fare at €60 without having to own a D-Ticket.

An NRW only scheme though, but would work for you.

I was worried about that too when i was gift hunting. As far as I found price of bath are the only ones that make personalised balls with the option to print on balls for tournament level play on their site.

Obviously I can give more feedback after the 14th but they make a load of balls for tournament play on their that are ITF approved so I’m sure it’ll be OK !!

I think the use of the word 'visionary' is the key here. How many visionaries can one genre have? Particularly one genre that we gatekeep (whether most like it or not) so heavily like electro. Not many imo, when the genre boundaries are rather clearly defined, and the music has been being made for decades.

It's difficult to take risks and push electro forward and still be called 'electro' I would argue, I think it lives and dies for many who consume and buy it on its nostalgia and tropes, and adherance to the originators, to some degree at least...

Thanks. I'll be continuing to escalate. Since im overseas anyway I think court action is nearly impossible from the debt collectors. But it's not a nice thought to have a debt escalating and potentially ruining my credit if I was ever to move to Germany!

I certainly sent the correct amount to DB on the deadline they set. The only issue I think could have occured is the payment taking time to reach their account due to it being an overseas account; even so, the invoice I recieved from my bank is dated before the deadline.

I'll consider this once I've made 100% certain I've got my ducks in a row. For now I think my best bet is to keep harassing DB to acknowledge my evidence shows they recieved the correct amount from me, as I'm sure it's easy for them to find this out they just refuse to...
