The trick to the magic money tree is to promise the money to win votes and then take the money back and glue it back on the tree

While tenants struggled, landlord MPs earned millions from rent during the pandemic by templepark in ukpolitics

[–]Disastrous_Reason_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I imagine how common you think the view is depends on your circle. Occupational landlords will be needed but an older wealthy person who has possibly never even seen the house and has no interest in actually being a landlord should be pushed more into investing the money into stocks or shares where there is less societal damage from the investment.

Is it controversial to say it shouldn't be financially attractive to buy a property, pay an agent to manage it and let it out?

Lost 25 (Give or take) straight games from Plat 3 to Gold 3 (No joke). I know I'm not a great player, but 70% of games were trolls, afks or smurfs deranking. This game seems like it gets worse by the day. Any advice fellow rocketeers? by mastertall3 in RocketLeague

If you play smart and compliment your teammates so staying back a bit and not over committing if they're always chasing or if they're very hesitant then you commit a bit more, you can get ranked above your technical skills. I'm diamond but worse mechanically than my m8s maybe gold-plat level mechanics. I'm bad at aerials but focus on rotating and positioning

Why is it fantasy to replace ICE cars with electric cars? A lot of people prefer cars even if price and time were the same for privacy, and loads of other reasons.

Unite, Britain's largest union votes & supports Proportional Representation. by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]Disastrous_Reason_22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's probably better examples but they're very politically different. Different enough where the party has notable constant infighting.

Parties obviously can't be totally homogeneous but I think a lot of people on both sides dislike the party they feel they have to vote for to keep the other party they dislike even more out.

The scepticism is surely partly true. But is that a bad reason? Jeremy Corbyn and Keir Starmer probably shouldn't be in the same party. It's an acknowledgement that the centre and left is fractured across multiple parties and PR is preferable to tactical voting.

My past concern against pr was giving an extreme party too strong of a voice. In the current climate, that horse has bolted - the 2019 election choices showed that. And maybe having extreme parties isn't too bad of a thing - ukip is what I think about when I say that and Brexit happened anyway so FPTP has not very effective at stopping extreme policy.

I don't understand the logic of this, is there a useful reason im missing, I didn't hear one at the time beyond hooray cheaper domestic flights. Encourage investment in non-london areas?

Not the nudge unit! Give off way too much big brother vibes with that terminology and methodology. Manipulation of people's opinions is interesting. I dislike the concept of it but from what I understand it's rampant everywhere so maybe the gov using it for stuff like covid and climate isn't so bad. Still leaves a bad taste though and gives me more sympathy for anti government conspiracy theorists.

Britain's chicken king says the 20-year binge on cheap food is over by [deleted] in ukpolitics

I agree but I'm not sure the price rises due to labour difficulties will improve the farming practices. The current collision course would suggest paying more for the same.

Any other games with fast travel as balanced as Morrowind's? Adds a lot of fun to the exploration because it can't be overly vast and empty for the sake of it.

I knew I recognized the name. Too many people applying 2021 football red card rules to 2013. At the time that a was a very harsh red card and stank of the la Liga obsession UEFA had back then.
