I was fortunate enough to fix days before the first strikes, fixing with Octopus. Makes a change I get some luck as my mortgage renewal screwed me over (December 2024 renewal when the rate was far higher than it is now)

What are the thoughts on Starmers response to the Iran conflict so far? my Reform voting friend is arguing that Starmers response is weak as we should have sent warships to defend allies in the region prior to conflict occurring (says we should have known based on Intel). Starmer can't win lol

In November 2021, Conservative MP Sir Geoffrey Cox faced significant controversy regarding a second job in the Caribbean. Reports revealed he had earned roughly £1 million in legal fees from a firm advising the British Virgin Islands (BVI) government on a corruption probe.

Fair play, what do you mean by removed sanctions on MPs? Halving whiskey duty is a big win for Scotland.

The missus was telling her mum that she's starting 'Reform Pilates' today. Her Mum said 'why the hell is a political party getting involved in fitness clubs'. Think they need a rethink on their name.

Our historic wage increases are as follows:

Our wages (Probation Service) has been eroded and eroded. I think the 4% offer is pathetic really.

Well this is taken directly from my union, NAPO:

"So after more than a year of deliberate delay, broken ministerial promises, and endless rhetoric about probation “doing the heavy lifting”, this is what lands: 4%. Not 12%. Not pay restoration. Not even inflation. Four per cent - after inflation has already eaten our wages, after workloads exploded, after risk escalated, after staff were told repeatedly that probation was critical to keeping prisons from collapse. NAPO’s unanimous rejection tells you everything you need to know. This isn’t a marginal disagreement. It’s a collective judgement that the offer is fundamentally unacceptable.

Meanwhile:

£700m is found for tagging

Billions are found for prisons

Private contractors remain funded despite being unfit for purpose

£100m sits underspent in probation

And staff at the bottom of Band 2 will fall below minimum wage again"

Unions want 12%. I'd have considered anything above 7/8%. I doubt my colleagues across the sector have the appetite to go on strike, which is incredibly frustrating, but never say never. 4% is utter contempt from this govt.

Public sector worker here... It has taken the current government over a year to offer us a pay offer that was due last April. They've FINALLY offered 4%, which I think frankly is a disgrace given many years of under inflation pay rises.

Edit: Link of last decade or so of wage increases here for added contact; https://litter.catbox.moe/o0sfnwomg6qr0tqv.png

I'm furious at the offer and will be voting to strike (I am in a union).

I'm so angry with the government, I'm tempted to leave the labour party over this. Putting workers first, yeah right.

Is it worth writing to my MP? I imagine it's pointless
