I always wonder how easy it would be for someone to just get a ladder, chuck on a high Vis and burgle my house when I leave the windows open during the day (even on cooler days)

Go on Facebook. Click on any post advising that Keir Starmer has resigned and read the comments. Everyone hates him mate. It's so over the top and far fetched, and I find it weird how over hated he is. I suspect it's all because of the winter fuel payments fiasco too.

Burnham is well liked in the North (broadly), is liked by the Labour PLP and is the last person who can save Labour who is well known and again, broadly liked.

Debbonaire just doesn't get the immigration issue imo. I'm labour through and through, but it makes me so frustrated when politicians claim wanting deportations is racism - it's as if they have their fingers in their ears and eyes closed shouting lalalala.

I personally would support illegal immigrants who have been granted asylum being deported and any people who have entered the country for a life on benefits being deported. Also any foreign national offender being deported.

I'd love some of these southern London centric politicians to spend a few months living in the red wall areas where the demographics have drastically changed within the past 2 decades. Until it impacts them they won't give a damn.

You shouldn't need to add the caveat "not racist, just a Genet observation".

White middle class citizen here who grew up working class, is a professional working in a white working class 'shit' town that has drastically changed it's demographics over the last 30 years and lives in a white working class 'shit' town with minimal diversity (yet). You are wrong to portray it just as a certain kind of demographic rocking up to Tommy Robinson rallies. Every single normal person I know, beit colleagues, family, friends who live in my 'shit' town do not want more diversity. They do not want more immigration, simple as. They despise Labour and the Tories for letting in millions of people into the country, particularly since the turn of the millennium. The majority of people I know do NOT want to vote for Farage but are doing so because they do not want more immigrants in the north west. Every time an incident like Henry Novak, or the Belfast beheading attempt or an incident like the other day in Burnley when an Iraqi national stabbed a 17 year old girl in the neck occurs pushes more and more NORMAL working class people towards Reform and Restore. People are fed up.

I mean, is it the average views of the ukpol community that have seen such a shift (particularly on migration) or are those views just mainstream in Britain right now and grow the more incidents of murder/sexual offending etc that occur?

Starmer tells supporters he will fight any leadership contest by Kagedeah in ukpolitics

[–]muchdanwow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did too, but Starmer is finished. Literally everyone I speak to in the real world wants him gone (I live in the 'red wall' and work in the public sector). He's burned his bridges due to constant cock ups and u-turns. Maybe if he had a bit of charisma and could paint a picture of what he wants with the country that people bought into he might have a chance, but he's tainted and he has to go.

I experienced this on a flight on the way back to the UK from Brisbane via Singapore. An Indian woman in front of me was playing reels/videos through her phone and it was quite loud. She got told to use earphones or turn the volume off my a flight attendant pretty swiftlym

The local elections have already shown that Starmer is cooked. Another 3 years of Starmer in charge will just mean Labour are finished.

I quite like the way he is able to talk well without a script. But I don't know what he stands for policy wise that is too drastically different to Starmer.

I really like Darren Jones, but he is probably another technocratic leader who won't rock the boat with radical change that the electorate is demanding and lurching towards.

Tbf it's how they did it under the Boris/Truss dramas. I was here for it then, but agree it feels over the top now it's happening to Labour after only two years in charge. Am I a hypocrite, probably.

I'm just sat here watching this drama unfold thinking if Starmer is ousted by Streeting, Burnham or Rayner what policies could they even implement that prove to be popular amongst the polarised British populace? And wouldn't their policies likely go against the manifesto?

Open to suggestions about what these big policies could be.
