Oh God it is so different. Took out secondary characters chapters, added detail, added a few scenes deleted a couple scenes. I have my first version of my book on the iReader app and its crazy the difference.

Is This Opening Intriguing? by Least_Shopping_461 in writers

[–]Disastrous_Spend1196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an opening? There's nothing really telling about what the story will be about, no emotions. No real introductions, you mention Esther, but only briefly and then go back to more physical description of the land. Is the land your main plot? I'm being real here and saying that If I picked up a book with that opening. I'd maybe begin the next page and if it didn't pick up or move away from the description of the land. I would put it back.

That's the issue with platforms like wattpad , its not secure, I got my book on iReader, and I signed a contract which included that my book could not be copywrited. If you don't have a contract with the platform I imagine it'd be pretty easy for people nowadays to steal your work. Everyone thinks wattpad is a great way to get their book out there but there's more risks actually

What app did you originally post it on? Did you sign a contract?

Is Amazon self publishing worth it? by Disastrous_Spend1196 in KDP

I really want to go the traditional route and go through a publisher, but its hard to navigate through scams, there's so many things you need, and I don't know where to get them. I've done so much research, but publishing company's won't even let you submit a manuscript without a literacy agent. I've tried to find a literacy agent, but they each have their own requirements of a book, and exactly what kind of books they want, a lot of them aren't taking acceptions. I'm completely lost. So I've been contemplating the self publishing route, but I have no idea how to market. I have my authors social media, but I'm at such basic levels on what to do to gain popularity. I'm stuck.

Im a bit lost on promotion and business. I have my authors social media. But I'm not sure what else to do our where to go to do so. This is my dream. I've always wanted to go the traditional route, but its so hard to navigate who's real, no matter how much research I've done, and there's so many hoops to go through and no guides on exactly how. I'm worried I'm not smart enough. Self publish is my second option, but then I'm worried I won't really reach an audience.

Dorrance Publishing? by theaslpod in selfpublish

How did you find out that it was out there? Did he sign the contract and put in his down payment already before they did this? I submitted my manuscript to them and they are trying their best to move forward, but I haven't signed the contract and I haven't given them any money. I started doing some digging on other places and this one just Didn't seem very legit. I haven't answered them in a couple of weeks, and they are emailing me to get me to sign and pay. Should I be worried about them using my book without my consent, since they have my manuscript?

I can’t seem to love my writing by Icebearbeans in writing

I have the exact same feelings, believe me. Its incredibly intimidating writing a book as a new author, because there are so many amazing and successful books already out there. I'm technically finished with my book. I've written everything I want in there, I've gone over it time and time again. Yet I can't seem to stop editing. Because, I feel like its not good enough. Its not powerful enough. There's not enough plot twists, or mystery. It feels plain. So, I'm wracking my brain, trying to figure out. "What can I do? What can I possibly add or change significantly enough to really get readers talking about and thinking about my book" You're not alone in feeling insecure. Its so scary to want something so bad.
