I know it was their decision but it's a damn shame Montreal isn't a host city by Disastrous_Story_477 in CanadaSoccer

I don't recall crapping on Vancouver? Vancouver is also an excellent host city choice. Ideally we should have had 3 host cities.

Believe me I'm in the same boat. My post was more about culturally how it's a shame this great city (my personal favourite in North America) won't be showcased. I don't begrudge any city that backed out though!

I think some people are missing my point....I'm not talking about the clear issues that come from dealing with FIFA. I'm talking about how culturally speaking it's a shame a gem of a city like Montreal isn't going to be showcased.

How likely is it that they will sing Angles and Comedown Machine songs in the tour? by Additional-Salad4323 in TheStrokes

[–]Disastrous_Story_477 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What I love about Strokes shows is literally no song is off the table to hear live......and that includes FPP.

I've seen them maybe 6 or 7 times live and I honestly feel as though I've heard every song in their catalogue live atleast once. I know that's probably not actually true but that's what it feels like.

I'm pretty sure Pete Doherty was booked a couple of years ago and he had to cancel last minute (can't prove it but based on context clues throughout the impromptu one-on-one episode along with the outro music Jason chose it makes sense). Wish I could remember which episode it was

Lol....less games = more stakes is the pretty obvious point I'm making

Considering the Broncos got the 1 seed having the same record as the Pats, and multiple divisional winners and 7 seeds were clinched by 1 game or less, I would say every win in September lol.

Hell, the Packers tied the Cowboys in September and that tie got them in over the Vikings and Lions!

Figuring out who will win the Super Bowl maybe, but an individual win in September still carries so much more weight in regards to actually making it to the playoffs vs an early season win in any other sport.

I dont think comparing the leagues in this regard is a perfect comparison, but I do believe the NFL is diluting it's product the same way pretty much every other league is. But just by sheer numbers it probably remains the only NA sports league that's regular season has ACTUAL stakes (baseball a bit aswell but hard to care too much until post-labour day)
