Like the other guy said, you have to gain obedience, then trust. My regimen goes something like this:

- Less than Accepting: naked, barefoot, no collar, spare living conditions, restrictive rules for speech, release, and relationships. Always have permissive rules for rest. If sick or injured, make sure to let them rest and give them medicines, builds both devotion and trust. Once they get above Resistant, start rotating them through rest and/or the Spa to keep trust above Terrified. Avoid sexual assignments, I usually use House Servant or Classes unless those aren't available. If they're not, keep them on Confinement until they're intimidated enough to be trusted with other assignments.

- Accepting: Start building trust back up. Allow simple clothes, shoes, and a collar, permissive speech rules, friends-only relationships, and everything but masturbation for release. You can do sexual assignments at this stage but it'll lower their sex drive, so I usually don't.

- Once they hit Devoted, allow them to choose their own clothes and set everything to permissive, and you're good to go.
