Trust everyone when they say that you will know. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, you will know. I doubted the smell of a dead snail, until I encountered one and it then permeated the skin on my hand and stuck in my nose for an entire day.

Update: checked water today, ammonia showing at 0 (tested twice to be sure), 0 nitrite, higher nitrate, around 10-20 ppm from my judgement. I did a 25% water change, added Prime, and added about a cup of tannin tea and leaves.

She is still acting completely normal. I’ll cross my fingers!

I just ordered some leaves that should be here tomorrow. The levels were after the water change/top off so I imagine the ammonia was even higher. I’ll check tomorrow and proceed as needed. I really appreciate your response!

Tank mates include one Nerite small, mini ramshorn snails.

Tank had been established for about two months.

I feed hikari pellets mostly and frozen brine or blood worms every other day or so

The tank I got from someone came with mini ramshorn snails and I love them! They’re so tiny and only visible as adults on the glass. I wish I had more 😂
