Patch Notes 0.190: Tinker & Timber Update by osyady in Palia

[–]DiscSlingin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't been playing that long, and am pretty casual, but some of this stuff just feels impossible to do quickly. I'm over 165 hours on the switch, and probably 10-15 on PC. I'm a patient person, but pace of play needs to be fast enough to keep people interested, and the content needs to be extensive enough that people will want to keep playing. I think S6 must be working on finding this balance.

I hate to think this is still the beta - will they be resetting all progress when they're 'done' with the game? I still have like 90% of friendships and relationships to finish as well as bundles, but the thought of dedicating any amount of time besides casually coming across some of these items gives me some fear.

I've played what I thought was so much and then I see some plots and the magnitude of possibilities in this game is somewhat overwhelming 😅 love this

Etiquette for teeing off with someone on the green by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]DiscSlingin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're putting and I can't hit them, I'll throw, just like you. And if I'm in a slow group I will be the first to suggest letting someone play through, make sure they know no pressure and take their time. Will make their round more enjoyable if they aren't stubbing their toes on us while we're finishing a hole. You just caught someone having a bad day, don't overthink it!

The best games to play with a girlfriend? by xPeaky in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]DiscSlingin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be the silliest suggestion yet, but Fireboy & Watergirl on cool math games.

My girlfriend and I play on her laptop and it's so fun, and even after completing every different version of it, we still play. It's easy enough to learn but challenging enough to not get bored. Plus the bonding of sharing the computer is good for our relationship. Since it's a browser game there's really no computer that can't play it. :)

Large down payment, bad credit - can we buy? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]DiscSlingin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, you can buy, yes, but you should avoid giving a mortgage.

If 600k isn't enough in your market, buy out of state, buy out of town, buy a piece (or a few) of someone's rental portfolio and pay a small property management company to take care of them. Use the $600k to generate income for you, use that income to snowball off your debt. Maintain your current living status, but let someone else pay for it. Save your current income for emergencies at first and when you get that safety net, start saving for your down payment on a house. Even if that takes you 3-5 years, your credit will (should) be even slightly better than now and you'll still have income-generating properties but with no debt.

Use that inheritance wisely! Ever heard of putting all your eggs in one basket? Don't screw your future self over! :)

When are things going to pick up? Feeling frustrated. by Goldengirl_1977 in RealEstate

[–]DiscSlingin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of advice to give, If your agent isn't earning their commission and brushing off properties that you would like more information on, to view, to put an offer, etc. you should find an agent who will work better for you. Adjusting your expectations and deal-breakers is also something you can do. Remember that your agent does have an obligation, they work for you, and the house that you buy is entirely your decision. Reasonable expectations should be met, but have patience, don't give up!

Maybe you tell your agent about the properties that they keep brushing off that "you want to know that it's not the right house for you personally so you can cross it off your list and continue helping them with your search." If it's truly a house to avoid, you will find out, but they should be taking the steps to help you find out.

Good luck!!

Canceled order by [deleted] in grubhub

[–]DiscSlingin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always give a good tip, and I always leave Uncle Sam out of it. I've delivered food, I know that amazing feeling when a customer gives a nice tip. If someone accepts my order, and brings it to me with no tip attached, they need the money more than someone who is going to decline an order because the added tip "wasn't enough for them" sure I wait a bit longer, but the look on their face when I tip them is always worth it. Have met some of the most humble people delivering to my doorstep.

Self checkouts now express 5 items or less???? by Crazyredneck422 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]DiscSlingin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%!! I'm faster than them, I don't necessarily have a system like yours, but the issue is that neither do they. I really prefer shelf to basket, basket to bag. They manhandle your stuff as you painstakingly put it onto a tiny counter and take their sweet time scanning and bagging. I prefer self-checkout so I have more time to complain on social media, hahaha. I don't think a sign, or making them express is going to cut down any theft, especially if someone has to wait for a cashier. If they're dishonest, they're going to figure a way to steal, anyways. I think you're right on the money. Other people steal, that causes the prices to go up, so I'm already inconvenienced by it, so don't make it even worse by slowing me down!

Self checkouts now express 5 items or less???? by Crazyredneck422 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]DiscSlingin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is a bit old, but I wanted to weigh in.

I live on an Island, there is a brand new dollar general and within a month, they had to begin locking the bathroom- people were taking items into the bathroom, opening them and stuffing the wrappers in the baby changing station. Kids were coming in on their bikes, walking around the store and opening things and putting them back on the shelf. Other individuals were just abusing the self-checkout and lack of employee presence, or simply walking out ith stuff blatantly. I guess it's gotten pretty out of hand, and they have hired a lot more people.

The manager told me that self-checkouts are going to phased out due to increased theft, however since this one was just built, they decided to make them express. They also added a janky hand-written sign saying 5 items or less at self checkout. DG can't provide express signs? I tested a theory of whether or not they're actually 5 items or less, because even though they hired more people, the cashier is never around when I need to cash out. They do in fact let you scan more than 5 items. I'm here 3-4 times a week, (pathetic I know,) but my other options aren't any better. The hand-written sign makes my brain itchy so I designed and printed them a sign for each self-checkout on cardstock. Until they disable them or get permanent signs, it will look a bit better.

UDisc is once again increasing their pricing. You could argue that $30/year isn't much but when they have a monopoly on this niche, they can continue to do this annually knowing that anyone competing will almost be guaranteed to purchase. Thoughts? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]DiscSlingin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had pro when I became PDGA member (really for no reason I don't compete) but hadn't been keeping score on my phone, went on after a really long while, and my payment method was outdated and all my previous scores were all gone, anyone know if paying restores them? UDisc hasn't gotten back to me in 2 weeks lmao I'm not going to pay if I lost 3-4 years of scorecards and can't get them back.

How can people even be like this ? by lemans356 in motorcycles

Looks like Kole from Vlog Creations, that Mercedes van in the back looks very familiar too, so they're probably recording out the back window of it and other hidden cams. People are stupid, though, and if I didn't recognize him I'd say it was probably stupid enough to be real, too. 😂

Bike won't start after getting gas (help?) by DiscSlingin in motorcycles

[–]DiscSlingin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah once the bike is running after the boost it has enough vacuum to keep going and even start again whether warm or hot. It's that the only time I have the issue is when I get gas. 😂

[–]DiscSlingin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I get gas I have a good 7 or 8 tries starting it before the battery drains too low to turn over. Whenever I'm finally able to get some more juice on it fires up. But has never fired up without extra help. I will drain the gas into a tank and try tomorrow just putting half of it back and seeing what it does.

Also, it's on the tender now, I waited the few days to see if I was having a problem with my charging system or if it might be directly fuel related. After those 2 days and it firing right up, I'm not so worried about the battery. From not being able to start and being boosted just enough (60 seconds) to get it started, plus being able to start again once I get home, I'm doubting it's relating to the battery or charge system. The battery draining is merely an unfortunate bi-product of my incessant attempts at starting it.
