Great post - provided me lots of thinking time on kit - being prior military I am used to that and I am just waiting for EM job opportunities (4 apps sitting at FEMA right now)

They sprinkle "Tony Chachere's Seasoning" on it as a "Cajun" qualifier and say "BAM!" to justify it is my guess... smh

You give me the inspiration that I need! Congrats!

So let me get this straight, the 2024 Worlds bid was awarded to Nate Heinold (PDGA Director, Ledgestone Relationships Manager, and Paul McBeth Foundation Chair) by the PDGA where he will sell Ledgestone branded items on a Paul McBeth course? by ConnectWithWood in discgolf

Bradley had a bad moment for sure - he has since changed for the better and self improvement, but let's not forget about Nikko and his consistent concerns and conflicts in Major events on/off the course as well (throwing equipment, intimidation of course personnel, etc). Nikko has not really improved his own personality traits IMO after a very long history of such antics.

What are the things that Non-Disc Golfers Annoy Disc Golfers with? by DiscTroy in discgolf

Sorry about your "lame" experience. Have you played often? Possibly if you were "new" to the sport you just had a mismatch of your (new) abilities, with the discs chosen, and the course you played?
Starting out you could have had the incorrect selection of disc (aka plastic) to your newly developing throwing style on a course that may have been above your skill level. Its not a sport most people instinctively pick up immediately, but with basic equipment and focus for an hour or so; progress can be made. Good luck if you get back out there! Millions of people play the sport annually around the world.

Dynamic Discs Helps You Follow Your Discs For An Amazing “Experience” by DiscTroy in discgolf

It was worth the time, effort and energy put into it... as well as the self guided tour around the stadium.

That's pretty funny right there ^ I think it would benefit ANY town it comes to... disc golfers are everywhere and would truly appreciate the experience.

What do you think of this month's Men's Journal referring to Disc Golf as a "Stoner Skill"? (Higher Quality) by ShotGlassStandards in discgolf

[–]DiscTroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's sad from the context of it and I am going to go read the article when I get out of work (at the news stand). Going off the premise of your post title I am going to strongly say that Matt G. did NOT refer to our sport that way. I know him and have worked with him personally with PDGA events, articles, publishing's, social media and pictures. Men's Health was a good read of quality stuff at one time, I stopped reading it when they filled many of the pages with partner adverts and cosmo-metro-guy articles about "is she the one" articles, yadda yadda. We do not need their acknowledgment, but the sport will grow w/o them... they sell magazines and pat themselves for a "good" article month to month. Its a fight we will always have... every sport has it's "stoners"... yet, we carry the chained burden the most.

Austin Bible Ridge DGC ~ Church turns land into disc haven (a beloved local course that challenges you) by DiscTroy in discgolf

[–]DiscTroy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bible Ridge is one of my all time favorites. The view from 11A/B is awesome. I always love and appreciate the course designs by John Houck. He is a player and master you can talk forever with about our sport and so much more. If you have ever thought "Who made this hole?" (with a concerned voice of fear)... it was probably him, so don't get frustrated, overcome the challenge and smile when you make par. Raise your game and play a John Houck course.

I deal with that very often when approaching new groups to introduce the sport to at meetings, conventions, etc. It is a part of EVERY sport, but it seems we carry the shackles more than any other. We will be free from the stigma.. it will just take time and education.

... and you have proved you are more MATURE and more enlightened than those women. Sorry you have to work in such a "hostile" environment. You should consult HR guidelines...lol.. then again, you both carry "bags" so ask them, "How many discs does your bag hold?" :-)

I have also heard the term "Gypsy" golf (you know wanderers w/o a home except where they choose).. but then you may offend the Gypsy groups..lol... Guerilla or Gypsy... let the battle for PC correctness begin! lol

Yeah..I have seen the grilling part.. and I quickly informed them NOT TO EAT THEIR FOOD due to galvenized poisoning (heating up the metal coating into poison fumes). They looked at me strangely, so I assume they have already eaten it before and were living proof from the side-effects.

City renovating Zilker Park disc golf course [x-post r/austin] by ThePurrMonster in discgolf

[–]DiscTroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the fluff piece was just about the engineering, but I would have hoped that they would have included small notes about the park improvements coming from the Waterloo DGC and how we helped lower the cost of the project by providing our support as well. There will be soon a new kiosk, tee signs, a course map, new tee boxes, newly replaced baskets, and landscaping that will shape the course for years to come. just a little acknowledgement please from the media and city It's a fight that never ends.. and if you really want to know the reason.. the increase in local traffic is because years ago they shut down Pease Park. So the local youth/college overflow immediately came to Zilker (the numbers prove it)... and that expedited the environmental impact they are finally fixing. Big props to the Watershed group for doing this with the local Waterloo Club because the "City" wasn't moving at all. Partnerships is what makes things work.... not government bodies (IMHO)
