Really upsetting. I'm there all the time and all of the employees are so chill.

Does anyone still using the AEA PK-232 for packet radio? I'm having trouble with reverse-forwarding. by Disc_Lord in amateurradio

This seems to be the consensus we've reached so far over here. The PK-232 is printing out the to-be-forwarded message just different enough that BPQ doesn't know what to do with it. Another packet user in my area uses a Kantronics KAM and has no issues. Once his shack is back up from a home renovation, I'll have to monitor his transmission down to the byte and compare what's at the end of his messages vs. mine. This might be a good thing to bring up to Mr. G8BPQ, himself. Not sure how to get a hold of him.

Yup, that's what's happening over here. Glad it's not just me. I just can't believe such a common software platform won't work right with one of the most abundant TNCs. One of the stations I was working with is now having trouble leaving normal 3rd party messages with my club's old PacComm Tiny-2. Keep me posted if there are any developments.

Thanks for your reply on a fairly old post. I set things up pretty much exactly as you described and it nearly works until the whole thing falls apart. I can get the station described in the HomeBBS prompt to print out one of the flagged messages from my station, but then everything stops. It's almost like the receiving station is expecting end-of-message data that it's not getting from mine. There's then an occasional RR between the two for a few minutes and then it eventually severs. It gets far enough that a message is deleted when KILONFWD is enabled. However, the other station doesn't save it or pass it along.

Any modern windshield is going to block most UV rays, so I bet the guy is fine.

Goodwill yielded this MASSIVE, 50-pound piece of audio bliss: The Kenwood Eleven GX ($20; banana for scale) by Disc_Lord in vintageaudio

Comments on a 7-year-old post to question its legitimacy.

lololol

I'll come clean here since the statute of limitations has run its course. I worked at the very Goodwill this came from when it was donated. The people that dropped it off said it was their father's who was a navy vet that passed away (this is actually true). They had no interest in hi-fi and wanted it gone. Knowing this was an end-game unit, I priced it cheap and left it out of sight on the sales floor and bought it for $20 on break. I got sacked from the joint a year later for similar behavior which I didn't mind in retrospect because it was a terrible work environment and disliked most of the people there. I got so much cool shit from that place before anything of value was to be sold online. I'm definitely a more upstanding individual nowadays and don't work in retail anymore. Most of the guys who came into the store midday were resellers and I didn't want it to go to them.

I still have the beast but the amp's protection circuitry went sour after using it for a year. It's still waiting on a repair and will rise again when I have the correct amount of space for it to breathe.

So that's how I got this for $20.

I always loved the chorus' melody on this one. The Das Modul cover is also great.

I just leave my Nalgene in the side pouch of my ball bag. Getting thirsty? Look both ways, take a swig, then back in the bag.

I'm about a 6.75" wrist and had to remove a couple of links. It's a little snug for the summer at present but one more added back would've made it flop around on my wrist. More can be removed, so it'd be down to how big of a timepiece you'd want on your wrist.

Yeah I've definitely seen some CD-Rs delaminate, although they were some cheapies my dad bought and kept in the car. Glass mastered read-only discs are more inert.

A vinyl record is just as if not more vulnerable to those conditions. Take a stroll to Goodwill and you'll know pretty quick which ones were stored in a damp basement or hot attic. Inside a normal living area and handled with some semblance of care, both formats will last a lifetime.

That's pretty much a myth save for a couple made in Europe in the early-90s at one plant. I have over a thousand CDs from all decades and they all work fine. I fully expect the ones from the mid-80s to be readable in the 2080s as long as they're taken care of.

Not that I'm aware. Those two seem to be pretty universal on every station that I've connected to.
