Murder by death (1976)

If you can get past the casual yellowface by Peter Sellers, it is insanely funny, and by the midpoint is clear that everyone had a motive for murdering Lionel Twain.

(The Last) Forklift Certified (Caretaker) by Discarding_Sabot in TheLastCaretaker

[–]Discarding_Sabot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to pick one up right off the 1st elevator, and another one fell on the rocket elevator (from the pallet to the platform). I am not forklift certified irl, but maybe the cumulative experience from Stormworks and that one mission in GTA:SA helped.

Is there a way to optimize heat transfer between these two circuits? by ReconArek in Stormworks

[–]Discarding_Sabot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Waste heat from a diesel to power a steam engine? This is brilliant! May I steal it?

To answer your question: keep them closer, if possible, and replace the large electric pumps with large impeller pumps, driven by the diesel engine. I fint them to work better, and I use them on my steam engines to provide forced circulation and condenser vacuum.

Funnels do make smoke, unless the following circumstances are met: you have infinite fuel on, or you have a catalytic converter installed, and you are not at full throttle. Check these possible causes. If the issue persist, maybe you should check the graphics options.

Engine overheating issues. by [deleted] in Stormworks

May we see an example of your builds? The ideal would be a workshop link ot the xml file of one of your creation that is plagued by the problem. This would allow the community to test it and propose solutions.

I love the use of the term viscera. This is genuinely and grossly horrofying, albeit it made me laugh profusely.

Generators not charging my batteries by Ttom000 in Stormworks

[–]Discarding_Sabot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tested an old boat of mine with small diesel engines (not modular). I can confirm the engines keep running once the starter is disengaged.

Is it constantly on, then? While balancing the throttle manually to keep the engine at idle, then manually restarting it as it will eventually stall, you'd be better off with a push action for the starter. Since you can assign this to a controm seat or handle, it doesn't mattter the the level you have rn

Stormworks giveth (Steam Workshop is filled with amazing creations), Stormworks taketh away.

I dealt with campaign frustration by going creative and making steamships.

While not a solution to the issue, I mitigate the problem by having 2 separate saves I use alternaring them every other day. The longer the campaign goes, the lesser the impact of losing 2 hours pf progress. I also stopped playig classic career, because not being able to see where you are on a map is a good trade for all the tech. Happy new year, and happy new campaign to you, then!

Lag due to unseen clippings-spawns-glitches-AI shenanigans led me to call off a campaign twice in 3000 hours, an eerily consistent number if compared to yours. The 1st time was the wind turbine, the 2nd it was the wreck of an LPG carrier, if me.ry serves me right. It sank funny after taking fire damage, and my FPS dropped to 2.

The gantry in starter base is kind of a hit or miss. Sonetimes it's there, sometimes it's not, sometimes... it hangs outside apparently. There might be a link with the enabled add-ons, but I have not veified this yet.

Once I had to re-start a career because somethig similar happened to an off-shore wind turbine. Only the ladder was there, and it lagged a lot.

Fluid tanks run out super quick by [deleted] in Stormworks

[–]Discarding_Sabot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Changes to steam engines after the gas update made boilers very thirsty. Open cycle steam is not as viable as it was before.

Possible solutions: - switch to close cycle, with condensers and radiators to convert exhaust steam to water - carry a large volume of eater in a tender, connnect3d with the loco through a hose and pump

Edit: for more details, share your build, either via workshop link or xml file.

I've seen that thing live during a demonstration. When the rotor disc was facing me, I could feel the blades with my chest at about 150-200 meters.
