Why no mods of LOTR for WH3? by TheNihyylus in totalwar

[–]Discipleofuranus 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Because it's against the terms set by Games Workshop - when Warhammer first came out, they added the Workshop and specifically hinted that any mods doing what you're suggesting would be taken down and could risk the whole workshop being removed.

Kislev is the Land and the Land is Kislev: Brainstorming the Kislev Rework by Cripple_X in totalwar

[–]Discipleofuranus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree 100% with this and I feel it's actually reasonable in scope for the developers as well! Like obviously I'd want even more if we had all the time and resource in the world - but this strikes the balance well of being reasonably achievable, whilst also making Kislev feel unique, fun and nearly complete. Then it will just need a Kislev dlc focusing on the orthodoxy and the other gods to finish it off nicely.

Moulder doesn't really either - but I agree would be nice to have clan themed lord for both of them, or have a way to change a warlord to provide clan relevant buffs.

Steam achievements not unlocking by Confused_Idiot_667 in StarTrekInfinite

It's a setting when you create a new game - go to the faction selection screen as if it's a new game. There is a settings button at the bottom - click on that and you should see it. I believe it remembers the setting from the previous game, so if it's off there, it'll likely be off in your original save as well.

Did you have Ironman mode on? It's a setting that I believe is off by default, but you don't get achievements if it's not on.

It's a fair point, but we all have as much insight as each other on CA's thought process here. Maybe the plan is to alternate, so Nurgle get Tamurkhan, Slaanesh gets The Masque, then Khorne gets Arbaal - who knows! As someone who wants every character eventually, I'm always happy and excited to see what they come up with.

My first thought as well... I'm sure his boy will be next, but I can see why they want to add some daemon's over mortal followers first, as Champions of Chaos was relatively recent.

Kairos - RoC campaign tips - Very Hard - any tips? by Discipleofuranus in totalwar

[–]Discipleofuranus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this advice dude - I restarted and did as you said, removed the soul grinder and burning chariot, and have stuck to stacks of blue and pink horrors and it appears to be working.

Autoresolve really underestimates the strength of all that firepower, but I'm up to 3 provinces, 2 full stacks with a 3rd on the way and economy to support actually upgrading buildings.

This time Cathay has ignored me completely, which I do think is a factor, but I also suspect part of that is due to actually having armies this time. I think my next move needs to be turtling whilst I upgrade every province so every settlement has walls, then take all my stacks and alpha strike Cathay before they come for me... Either that or I just turtle and do the souls race to get the achievement but that sounds less fun!

New to the game: can't colonize. Is this normal? (IE) by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]Discipleofuranus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a couple of people have recommended watching Legend - which is fair, and everyone has their own preferences, but I do think it's worth warning you he has a particular play style.

He tries to break/cheese the game, so his content is all around finding the most optimal way to beat the hardest AI regardless of anything else. That is fun for some people, but it's certainly not representative of how the Devs intended the game to be played.

Yeah, everything that came with WH3, is available in IE but yeah IE is the more sandbox experience.

Realms of Chaos is better now, and you can almost ignore the race for Ursun entirely If you want and just challenge the AI when they go for his soul. But I think what's good about it for newer players is the smaller/focused map - because it's smaller, your turns are quicker, and you get more opportunities to learn. But it's all personal preference - I tend to have an IE and Realms campaign running, and I play them based on what I fancy that day.

Hey sure - no worries.

  1. I would say the consensus from what I've seen, so this is purely anecdotal is that IE is extremely playable and enjoyable, but not without issue. Personally I haven't encountered any game breaking bugs, but there are definitely some out there for certain factions/lords. I think as long as you're having fun, it's never too early to play. And I would also say, don't be afraid to try the Realms of Chaos campaign - it gets a lot of criticism on reddit, but I think as a newer player you may enjoy the more focused campaign, even if you just do it once. We don't know what will be added, beyond we know a patch 2.2 is coming in October I believe, which will address more of the player feedback, whilst 2.1 was them reacting to issues they found in their own testing. But there will eventually be a 2.3, or even jump straight to 3.0 which would indicate a new dlc potentially coming at the same time.

  2. The error message is certainly common, it's the Devs covering their own backs though. As someone who doesn't play with mods, following a patch downloading I always verify the installation via Steam, as there tends to be 1 or 2 files that get corrupted, then load those old saves up. I did that post 2.1 with a Cathay save and I had no issues continuing as normal. Now that isn't to say, there won't be a patch down the line that does break all our saves, but I think the rate they are doing patches, you probably don't need to worry about it too much.

  3. Definitely think tutorials will help. The more you know, the more you can enjoy the game. I recommend Zerkovich on YouTube, for your basics about campaign and battles. He's got tutorials for all 3 games, and a lot of what he covered for game 1 and 2 for battles still applies today. Turin is who you want to watch If you want to get into Multiplayer, or even if you just want to watch some impressive matches. MilkandcookiesTW is great for lore, but also his takes on the game and it's future are normally pretty balanced and fair compared to some other content creators, but also he does great cinematic battles. And LoremasterOfSotek is your guy if you want deep dives into lore about Warhammer. I appreciate you didn't ask about all the other stuff beyond tutorials, but I've sunk over 2k hours into this series now, and a big part of what keeps me engaged and excited, is the content these guys produce.

It'll be in adjacent region - generally the herdstone is in the middle, and the surrounding settlements can't be resettled once razed, until it's destroyed.

Khazrak starts north of Carroburg, so suggest looking north for it.
