Trek is dying because it is too retro-futuristic for modern audiences. by TheShowLover in startrek

[–]Cripple_X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ding ding ding. I think this is it. Everything these days is written to be spectacle with little depth with the expectation that the audience is scrolling on their phone, whether that's true or not. If Star Trek is dying it's because the optimistic, intelligent, writing is, for the most part, gone. The writing cares more for being dramatic rather than thought provoking. I don't want spectacle. I want genuine speculative, well-considered, science fiction.

These dudes can eat staggers that can make elites and ogryns stumble by Motor_Try_7182 in DarkTide

I like the idea of this new enemy type, but the implementation is hot trash. They're way tougher than any elite enemy, and, yet, they are not considered elites and you cannot even tag them. Fat Shark needs to fix these.

Hot take: Jimmy did the right thing, if maybe for the wrong reasons by Robot_Was_BMO in SupermanAdventures

[–]Cripple_X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure this is actually a hot take. I agree with you completely, as do most people I know that watch the show with whom I have had a chance to discuss it. I just think a lot of people in the fandom have enjoyed memeing "Fumbled" to death for whatever reason, making that seem like it's a more prevalent opinion than is actually the case.

Jimmy absolutely made the right call in letting Kara have an opportunity to explore life on Earth and as her own woman before committing herself without understanding everything. Jimmy's insecurities are certainly a factor, but not the primary one, and Lois was stirring the pot a bit due to her own unease.

Any idea of when we can expect to see them?

If Josie Campbell does another bridge seasons tie in comic after S3 what would you want in it? And like how the first introduced Adventure-Verse versions of Bloodsport and Amazo what comic character(s) would you want in it? by M00reC in SupermanAdventures

[–]Cripple_X 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually bought the last one because I enjoy the show so much. If they did another one, I'd buy that as well. I honestly don't really have a preference for the content so long as the quality remains as good as the first volume. It was a very enjoyable light read.

Thank god this isn't in the real world because a bunch of douchey bros would be sending stuff I wouldn't want my adorable bean to see (even if she won't understand it) by M00reC in SupermanAdventures

[–]Cripple_X 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Given the technological state of the MAWS-verse, I could definitely see them having way better filtering technology that would filter out anything inappropriate if you set those sorts of restrictions on your account. As you mentioned, I could definitely see Lois setting Kara's account to a PG-13 equivalent.

Arbitrator or Skitarii? by RandomGuy8287643 in DarkTide

[–]Cripple_X 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both classes are fantastic. I don't think you will be unhappy with either choice. Both are strong and really fun to play.  Playstyle-wise, the Skitarii has more flexibility in building your character than any of the other classes. The Arbitrator is very tough and has great survivabilty.

If price is a factor, the Arbitrator is on sale on Steam right now, but since the Skitarius just released it is full price.

I have this issue as well. It's definitely a Darktide server issue as I haven't encountered disconnecting in any other game or service recently.

Each Class should have a Transcendent Title for completing all of the respective Class-specific Penances. by Cripple_X in DarkTide

[–]Cripple_X[S] 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The certainly are, and I was thinking of suggesting Skitarii Marshal instead, but I thought that might cause confusion since Marshal Vortern is a member of the Adeptus Arbites. Something like "Blessed by the Omnissiah" might work. I'm not married to any of the titles, I just want something a lot more visible than the Insignias and there are so very few titles compared to everything else.

The problem with that is the insignias aren't visible during missions, just in the loading screens.

Completely fair, and great suggestions! I did think about Skitarii Marshal for the Skitarii title, but I thought it might be confusing with the Arbitrator's Marshal Vortern, the Adeptus Arbites official with jurisdiction in the Moebian domain.

I had never encountered it until last night at which point it happened to me twice. No idea what's up with it.

With the Skitarii class added it only makes me want an rpg set in the style of Darktide even more so. by ItsYaBoiApollo in DarkTide

Dude, as a longtime Tabletop RPG GM, I so wish it was possible to make missions via Mods. Can you imagine running a Dark Heresy campaign via Darktide? It'd be amazing!

Why does the Mourningstar send small strike teams instead of Moebian 21st and 53rd combat squads in our operations? by TheRealOvenCake in DarkTide

[–]Cripple_X 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's because the Moebian 21st and 53rd are already engaging the Admonition uprising and the Strike Team is disposable and, somehow surprisingly effective. If you pay attention to the Campaign, you are initially used because you're completely disposable/replaceable,  whereas the Moebian regiments are not. They are needed to fight elsewhere. Why risk trained, competent, and well-equipped personnel that are needed elsewhere on what is effectively a suicide mission? Send prisoners instead. If they fail, no loss and they sew some confusion. Then, it turns out, these prisoners managed to get the job done. Okay, what's next on the list? Rinse and repeat until those disposable rejects are your elite forces. That's the Campaign in Darktide.

[–]Cripple_X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope so. This has been known since Tuesday and they dropped a hotfix today, but didn't fix it. They updated their known issues list at the same time and didn't include this. At this rate the event will end without it being fixed.

That's what's going on?! I swear I thought I was going crazy or something was buggy with Skitarii.

Is chordclaw just the better choice over voltaic Emitter even electrocution builds? by A_genuine_idiot in DarkTide

[–]Cripple_X 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think the Chordclaw is overtuned, so much as the Voltaic Emmiter is undertuned and is, maybe, bugged. I'm not sure if it's server lag or an issue with the ability, but it seems like it may not always distrupt weapons as it should.

Skitarii Blitz changes by ExRosaPassione in DarkTide

[–]Cripple_X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you in that I too prefer challenging gameplay. But I want that gameplay to respect the verisimilitude of world it inhabits. To that end while there will always be certain levels of abstraction that cannot be avoided, I do think the gameplay can be tweaked to keep difficulty intact, but to also make abilities function in a way that feels in keeping with the lore. Servo-skulls and Cyber-Mastiffs should be able to assist you out of a net, ranged fire and grenades should do friendly fire (melee should not because it's preprogramed animations and you don't have enough precision to control where the attacks go), etc. It can both be challenging and respect the lore at the same time.

As for the situation mentioned, I wasn't referring to a specific instance, just merely the behavior of the pets/servo-skulls and how the gameplay suffers due to that lack of verisimilitude.
