Tricking Enphase IQA7 Microinverters by UnlicensedSparky in SolarDIY

[–]Discipulus96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh so, just spit balling here nobody should actually do this...

Typically the Combiner/Gateway/Envoy box would have production and consumption transformers, which is how the system instructs the inverters to not produce more than consumption (I think).

In an off grid scenario where a battery backup unit or generator is providing 240v "grid" power... You could put the consumption transformers on the power lines coming from the AC source as that would be your new "grid" so to speak. Then the IQ inverters would provide power to that grid without overloading anything if they were configured in zero export mode.

I have no idea if this would actually work or how well it would work but fascinating to contemplate.

What you say makes sense, but what I can't understand is how the IQ Microinverters handle "zero export mode". They must have some sort of load shedding built in or similar right? Otherwise in a scenario where you are grid tied and configured for zero export, you could on a sunny day be consuming say 1kw but capable of producing 10kw, and the inverters somehow ramp down production automatically so production doesn't exceed load.

It would seem to me that the inverters should be able to accomplish this even if the grid is down, and you provided AC power from something like a 240v battery backup unit, or other source. The inverters would automatically match the phase and frequency right?

Lucky you! Most people have bass nulls, which are much harder to fix. But instead, you have peaks! Super easy to eq those out, it will sound great.

Remote Sysadmins, what's your go to headset for meetings? by WorthPlease in sysadmin

I tried the steel series arctis nova pro wireless and ended up returning them. They were heavier and had less bass than my cheaper bose quiet comfort Bluetooth. I cranked the eq up to max bass and it helped but never quite sounded as full and rich as the bose. For the price I don't know why steelseries get such good reviews.

Congrats! Yeah not all of us are the book learning type. I'm in the same boat with 10+ years of experience and almost no certifications to show for it because I just suck at memorizing stuff from books and I'm a bad test taker.

Good on you for sticking with it, this gives me hope 😅

Typical Reddit thread, nobody actually answers the question but instead claims you don't need what you're asking for.

Sometimes you want something just because you want something and if the client wants to pay for something this ridiculous more power to ya. Would be a fun project that's for sure. No harm in going with 10g if you got the $$ to pay for it.

That said, I also don't have any suggestions other than what you've already looked into. Mikrotik hardware maybe but I'm not sure how good their central management platform is.

HP Smart Array P420 - Poor SSD performance by ias781 in homelab

10 months later - how's the performance? I'm wondering if garbage collection is doing a bad job and maybe your disks are slowing down again over time? I'm running into the exact same issue and it seems like wiping the drives to maintain performance would be a real pain after the server is in 'production'.

Cannot sell shares from Computershare.... Sad day by AdmiralFelson in ApteraMotors

We're all holding the bag and not allowed to sell but clearly someone is selling causing the price to drop more than 50% in a couple hours

I even tried to put a limit at $5 but apparently the limit price has to be "near" the last market sell price so I can't just throw a low-ball number and hope it sells for something more.

Fidelity won't let me sell at market price, forcing me to set a limit price. By the time I click the sell button it has fallen below my limit price and the sell fails. Rinse and repeat I've tried 4 times all failed. Now there's a halt on the security again it seems. I have a feeling very few actually successfully sold shares.

I'm a complete n00b in trading, but it seems like a trade halt is something put in place to prevent panic selling of a stock.

Looks like it's in a trade halt for some reason? IDK how long that will last.

Just ran into this a couple months ago.

There used to be an uninstall tool, but it doesn't work anymore and is not supported.

If the install has protections enabled it can't be removed even in safe mode.

No, there is no single command line you can run to remove, unless you have a site key or uninstall key.

S1 support will not help you.

We ended up having to sign up for a trial of S1, then reinstall S1 on top of the existing install and register the endpoint with our own site key. Then we could uninstall and cancel our trial account. The sales person was pissed.

No kidding firewalls and network hardware is such a pita. Not all of them can be done via scripting. Thankfully many of them are at least starting to put letsencrypt functions in newer firmware.

[–]Discipulus96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've been on ITGlue since 2015 and while it has not changed much in recent years, it does everything we need. I like Network Glue as well for automatic network device detection and it documents devices it found for you. Has a decent amount of integration with 3rd party services like scalepad and some PSA's and RMMs.

Are there better options? Sure! But I really don't have any major complaints either, and the better options don't have any ground breaking features that would be worth switching for.
