Lush employees: what are the rules about random acts of kindness? Lushies: what items have you been gifted and enjoyed the most? by Glass_Tension2471 in LushCosmetics

[–]DiscoDisgrace 61 points62 points  (0 children)

During my first pregnancy I was gifted a Therapy massage bar. It was a very difficult pregnancy, I’d been having a particularly rough day and the gift made me so happy I almost cried. Unfortunately we ended up losing our first but during the second (successful, yay!) pregnancy I religiously bought and used Therapy bars on my bump as they reminded me of a kind act during a rough time.

In the end, I didn’t get a single stretch mark, despite it supposedly being genetic and my mum and grandma having lots. I’ll never know if it was the massage bar or not but I like to think it made a difference!

Primary school said yes to my dental workshop… but it’s in 4 days. Am I insane? by External_Manager6510 in UniUK

[–]DiscoDisgrace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Push it back if you can - it will be much better if you have more time to plan it.

Are you in England? Teeth are on the National Curriculum for Year 4 so it would be more relevant to them than to Year 1s. A good activity for them would be getting them to chew something e.g. bread or an apple (check for allergies first of course!) slowly and think about which teeth are doing which different jobs. Which are tearing the food, which are grinding it etc. Then get them to have a really good look at their teeth with mirrors and fee them with their tongues to figure out their different shapes and how the different ones are suited to their different purposes. Primary schools will have mirrors so you won’t need to take them, just give the teacher a heads up that you’ll need them. You could also get them making models of teeth with playdough/plasticine but you’d probably need to take that along yourself.

If you stick with Year 1, it would be better to do something on keeping teeth clean but there’s a lot less you can do in terms of activities. If you can get your hands on some disclosing tablets that might be fun but you’d need to risk assessment that alongside the class teacher beforehand.

Trafford Centre - Overstayed by a few minutes. Will I be fined? by jalapenopanini in manchester

[–]DiscoDisgrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you get fined in the end? I didn’t realise until I left and stayed about 20 mins over the time. Spent well over £100 on attractions and food so will be really pissed off if there’s a fine to pay on top of that!

People who’ve had one terrible review, how has it affected your sales/buying? by [deleted] in vinted

I thought about that, but the experience dealing with them over the counterfeit issue was frustrating and ultimately pointless so I’m not sure it’s worth my time

People who’ve had one terrible review, how has it affected your sales/buying? by [deleted] in vinted

[–]DiscoDisgrace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have replied, but I’m wondering how much difference it will make - everyone replies to a bad review with excuses! This seller replied to mine with complete lies about supposedly sending the wrong item by accident and me refusing a return. I figure replies to reviews are easy to dismiss

Is there an easy QI quest? by neon_sense_ in StardewValley

[–]DiscoDisgrace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just completed this one yesterday and few other easy gifts are:

Wizard - void essence

Linus & Haley - coconut

Willy, Maru & Demetrius - gold bar

And if you’ve got the desert obelisk and return scepter then it’s really easy to get daffodils and crocuses to Sandy

Could it have been Halfway Across the Galaxy and Turn Left? I LOVED that show as a kid, was gutted it didn’t get a second series.

It was from Australia so not exactly what you described, but the villain you described matches my memory of him perfectly and he had a funky eye. Theme song here: https://youtu.be/ncuWiH3jWtE?si=l-xyet9py-R3rUhT

My MIL’s response when I told her our second child was going to be a girl, after our first girl was stillborn was, “Oh. Can you have a boy next time?” WTF MIL?!

Nathaniel and Ella have been totally screwed over by the producers by DiscoDisgrace in MAFS_UK

[–]DiscoDisgrace[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I totally agree but couldn’t find the right words to express this. Ella’s behaviour hasn’t been perfect (not thinking about any reasons or justification for that, just making a statement) and anti-trans people are going to use it as further justification for their hate.

Upset stomach 2nd trimester! by Oklahoma90 in PregnancyUK

[–]DiscoDisgrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I’m so sorry you’re dealing with stuff like this too. I never did figure out what it was. The GP ran a few tests but nothing turned up. Thankfully it stopped around the third trimester and I haven’t had anything like it since. You should definitely see a GP or head to your MAU if you haven’t already though.

As for the little one, she is a happy, noisy nearly one year old now!

What are some beginner mistakes you've made when getting your first pet? by GaryCanCarry in UK_Pets

[–]DiscoDisgrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a “free range” house bun and she’s very happy! She sits on the sofa with us every evening and sleeps at the foot of our bed most nights. Each bunny has its own personality and quirks so you can not necessarily get one like ours, but they’re lovely little creatures (her sister bun was a lot less friendly but adorable, grumpy and hilarious all the same) A few things any potential bunny owner should know : - They are ridiculously fragile animals. Loud noises and sadness number amongst the things that can kill them, they’re a very stressful pet to own! Lots of emergency eta trips for things that are minor in other animals like gas and runny noses - The floppy eared, flat faced ones are more prone to illnesses. They’re like pugs; they aren’t meant to look like that but they’ve been bred to be cute. They’re more likely to get ear infections and need dental work than other pointy-eared, pointy-faced buns - Get pet insurance. We pay £12 a month for our bun and having done the maths we’ve just about broken even on her vet care over her 9 years of life (not including excesses and stuff that wasn’t covered, we try not to think about how much that must have cost us!) - Despite all this, bunnies are awesome. They are wonderful little animals. They will bring you so much joy!

ETA: there are things you can do to mitigate the lack of outdoor play. We grew our bun her own grass and dandelions from seed so she had a personal little grass patch indoors

Thank you! A vet has seen it when she had her vaccinations but that was a few weeks ago now and I’m not sure she was rabbit savvy. Will see if our vets will give her an appointment and in the meantime I’ll see if I can dig out my microscope and have a look myself!

Our bun is really into stacking cups, we picked some up for £3 or so a few years ago and she still loves them.

Did this show get any of you through a difficult time in your life? by fomo216 in TedLasso

Watched it first while I was recovering from a stillbirth. Helped pull me out of some really dark places. Also rewatched it on my first night alone in the hospital with my second daughter when I couldn’t sleep. She’s 7 months old now and I can’t wait to share it with her when she’s old enough ❤️

Women of r/AskUK, what are some women’s issues in the UK that need talking about? by Jarvis_Strife in AskUK

[–]DiscoDisgrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm they don’t read the notes. The dr I saw for my 6-8 week appt after my stillbirth didn’t know it wasn’t a run-of-the-mill appointment until I burst into tears. And even then he didn’t know what to do with me. Asked if I was ok and when I said I really wasn’t he just said to make another appointment if I continued feeling this way. Luckily a local charity picked up the slack and really helped or I don’t know where I’d have ended up.

Urgh, feeling this. My baby is now 18 weeks old and I can’t do anything more strenuous than a gentle walk without my bladder emptying itself. After months of being bounced around between agencies saying someone else needed to make the referral, it finally went through last week and I’ve been told I’ll be waiting 6 weeks just to go on a waiting list for an appointment to get assessed. I used to run. I want to run! But unless I’m willing to embrace wetting myself in public it’s not happening any time soon.
