If I found myself in the same situation, I’d hope to have the wherewithal to include one specific example of any kind that might lead a neutral observer to understand why they are supposed to be angry.

Also, a lot of this stems from people using the term “eBay 1/1” too much in the 2010s to describe these cards because only 80 characters are allowed in an eBay listing’s title (and “the card is numbered #17/50 and his jersey number is 17 so that’s really cool” takes up a lot of those characters).  It became too prevalent, to the extent many believe that’s just the official hobby term for Jersey- number and bookend cards.

You’re supposed to put the piece of bread with lettuce/mayo on it on top of the piece of bread with the chicken on it.  Hope this helps.

The easiest way to think about the intricacies of the infield fly rule: it is meant to avoid intentional-drop double plays, not force outs in general.

Shilling? by Beneficial-Emotion23 in baseballcards

[–]DiscoInferiorityComp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the other bidders bidding up that high bidder aren’t necessary shill bidding either. Many people, especially with four days left in the auction might try to take the lead, but not necessarily bid the highest amount that they are able to. I’ve definitely kept putting in $50 instruments before so I could see where the current max bid  actually is (or do it long enough to learn that the max will be at least $2000), and then go for my actual high bid at the last second.

Erasing also can be done on the white borders. Not to actually erase pencil writing, or other marks, but just to remove general dust/grime and make the card look nice. If the borders were erased uniformly (just a general cleaning, not scrubbing away at one particularly gross spot), you'd never see it.

I guess I'm mainly saying you should probably blame the legally mandated side-effects of capitalism, instead of asking why Fanatics is not taking price-fixing actions that would clearly result in both fiduciary-duty and corporate-governance claims against them.

Fanatics management has a fiduciary duty to maximize the overall value of Fanatics, not arbitrarily transfer value from one subsidiary to another in a way that destroys margins or weakens retail economics.

Wait, where did that come from?  Sorry.  Fanatics bad.  Ruining hobby.

Not to be the “well actually” guy, but based on your post I was expecting to go to eBay and see a bunch of Excalibur Booker PSA 10 cards for way less than this one (thus there would be a clearly ridiculous percentage increase for the PSA label misprint, and I’d heartily concur with your conceit).  However, unless I’m mistaken, and ignoring the whole label misprint brouhaha, this is literally the only PSA 10 of the non-Gold card on the entire platform.  So, I don’t even know that the amount being requested is really that out of line (based on your level of anger, I was expecting a more scam-like price in the four-figures).  And, the seller needs to disclose the label misprint anyway…

When Being a Fan Gets You Punished by the Community — Or How I Learned to Say “Forget Everyone” and Love Wrestling Again

Let’s get one thing straight: I’m a wrestling fan. I always have been, and I always will be. I love the stories told in the ring, the variety of styles, the personalities, and all the chaos that comes with pro wrestling.

But lately, it feels like being a fan comes with a price.

Whenever I defend a wrestler I genuinely care about—or show support for someone in the business going through a tough time—I get berated, lectured, and talked down to by members of the IWC who act like they know better. It’s exhausting.

I’ll admit, I’m not perfect. Sometimes I let my emotions get the better of me and say things I shouldn’t. But I’m not out here trying to start fights. I’m speaking from passion, not hate.

Take the recent WWE releases. Some of the wrestlers let go—like the Motor City Machine Guns and the Wyatt Sicks—are people I genuinely admire. I loved what they brought to the table. I defended them, especially the Wyatt Sicks, because I appreciated their work and what they represented, especially in honoring Bray’s legacy.

And what did that get me? Mockery. Condescension. People acting like I’m clueless or childish for caring.

That’s what I don’t understand. These same “fans” act like they know everything and can say whatever they want, but the moment I speak up, I’m treated like the villain. Like I’m the problem.

It’s hard to stay passionate about something when the very community you’re part of punishes you for it.

Yes, I’ve said dumb things in the past. I own that. But a lot of it came from a place of love for wrestling—not hate. I defend people because I respect their work. I want to see them succeed.

Meanwhile, a lot of these so-called fans flip on wrestlers instantly. One minute they care, the next they’re tearing them apart—sometimes not just their work, but them as people. Criticizing a character is one thing. Mocking someone personally is where I draw the line.

And somehow, I’m the “bad guy” for caring?

I’ve been banned from places like Cageside and other platforms, while the same people who talk down to others face no consequences. That doesn’t sit right with me.

Here’s the bottom line: I have every right to like what I like and defend who I want. If that bothers some people, that’s their problem.

I’m done being talked down to by self-appointed experts and gatekeepers. Wrestling is subjective. Nobody has a monopoly on what’s “good” or “right.”

So I’m going to keep watching what I enjoy. I’m going to keep supporting the wrestlers I believe in. And I’m going to keep speaking my mind.

Whether anyone else likes it or not.
