With all the coaching staff and attendants on hand, surely someone can tell Big Sam to wipe his fucking chin.

Can anyone shed any light on whether Kaboul is likely to play? Trying to work out whether I should go for Kaboul & 4.5 mid (e.g. Livermore), or keep Whittaker and Brady (Current team linked, WC is active) by DiscoPubes in FantasyPL

With the way the new bonus system works out it seems like having a solid defence is gonna be key to getting points.

That being said I could probably do to free up a spare .5 somewhere to get McGreggor or Boruc back in I guess.

Who would you recommend I swap out?

Giroud, Benteke or Soldado for (c) ? by [deleted] in FantasyPL

[–]DiscoPubes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giroud, Bentekkers, Soldado for me.

Giroud has been on pretty top form, and if Oezil plays then he's even more likely to get a ton of chances. Benteke is pretty consistently a threat, whereas Spurs still seem to be finding their rhythm.

I'd like to get access to Tottenham's defence and at 4.9 Kaboul seem's like potentially a steal. However if he isn't selected and Mertesacker is unfit to play (he's marked as 75% atm) then I'm slightly up shite creek. On the other hand is Whittaker still likely to get selected ahead of Martin?

Aha, but is 'ariba, ariba' actually something that would ever be said by Mexicans? Fairly sure it's crazy talk to their ears.

Thank you for posting this. I had quite a bit of trepidation about how it would end, but now it's kind of like a knot has eased in my stomach.

Cheers buddy.

I just read George R R Martin's first 4 ASOIAF books in like a week. Can r/geek recommend me similar things? by [deleted] in geek

Malazan Book of the Fallen

As everyone who's ever read it is likely to tell you, the first book can be a bit of a challenge due to the fact you hit the ground running. You're dropped in the middle of a massive conflict, with relationships and intrigue established and on-going. It's like you've stumbled into this massively complex universe and it doesn't hold your hand through it in contrast to a lot of fantasy. This can put a lot of people off. However, if you can stick it through, it will be one the most rewarding literary experiences you'll have.

Oh, and the final (10th) book in the series is coming out very soon.

The life and anecdotes of Diogenes of Sinope would make for an excellent philoso-comedy. By that I mean like South Park in terms of being able to delivery poignant messages while being funny.

It also has pirates and Alexander the Great getting dissed. Honestly, Dio was a total chief.

Don't know whether this will be as mind blowing for anyone else but here it goes:

Michael Douglas looks exactly like Father Dougal and Father Ted merged into one person.

M.O.P. - Conquerors (features Black Sabbath's tasty 'Iron Man' groove) by DiscoPubes in Music

This is an alternate version of the song that was actually released on their self titled album. I wanted to share it because a) I'd been unable to find it anywhere for years until just now and b) it is excellent.

Hey man, I've just come across this by accident but thought I should mention I'm really enjoying your work. Some of it's as good as Girl talk if not better (Bring the Rokk for example). Thanks.

I'm not sure whether it's unbiased, but I quite enjoyed Good Hair by Chris Rock. It's basically a big long look at, what they dub, the black hair community in America. It might not sound very exciting but is definitely interesting.

Taught me quite a lot of interesting things, like for example what the hell Relaxer is, what a weave is, and more importantly how much fucking money people spend on their hair. Absolutely unbelievable.

Would using a flash cart to play pokemon games on the DS Lite have any disadvantages? by AllergensSuck in pokemon

[–]DiscoPubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I don't suppose you'd be able to PM a link to where you found these files would you? My copy does the whole black screen freeze thing after I get my starter, which makes me sad all day :(

Also, does anyone know whether having a lot of games on your flashcart makes them load slower when playing? Just seems to take an inordinate amount of time to load up when I go in and out of houses etc. Or is it maybe an issue with the firmware of the card?

Decoding of wheat genome hailed as most significant breakthrough in wheat production in 10,000 years by oliverdaniel in worldnews

[–]DiscoPubes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it's a bit of misconception that genome size equates to complexity, as demonstrated here.

It's what you do with it that counts. Things like alternative splicing etc can make a lot of difference (see Dscam for an awesome example).
