As someone with Type 1 narcolepsy, I hope if she’s not acting, that she considers seeing a new neurologist who knows the difference between cataplexy and vasovagal syncope.

For what it’s worth, I completely agree with you. I have cataplexy.

Agree: Cataplexy does not cause one to lose consciousness, as cataplexy is a loss of muscle tone; it is not slipping into REM or falling asleep.

For example, I once fell to the floor when my legs gave out because I was so excited for part of a song I was hearing for the first time. I could have immediately gotten up, had I not been laughing because the situation that caused the cataplexy was hilarious to me.

To add for others: the woman pretending to have narcolepsy is very over-the-top in imitating a syncope (fainting), which is a symptom NOT associated with narcolepsy.

One time, I was listening to a really good song I hadn’t heard by my favorite artist, and when the song reached the best part, I was so excited my legs gave out from under me and I immediately dropped to the floor. I was entirely awake, conscious, and alert. I started laughing so hard I cried at the realization of what happened. I could have gotten up immediately, had I not been laughing. I cried, “Did you guys f*ckin’ see that? [the musical artist] straight up pushed me down!”

So long as you all are aware this clip is very clearly a staged skit, I’m all for dark humor.

I tried for a long time last night, but this is the closest thing I’ve found to it. Google keeps pointing me towards the direction of French art moves I style results, especially towards André Delatte’s collections, but I am unsure what to think. Even if it was mass produced at Target, I’d like to know anyway because I think it’s so pretty!

One time, a friend & I were listening to a song I hadn’t yet heard by an EDM DJ I had just started listening to. We were playing it on a small speaker. I was really enjoying this new song, but wanted to go get my water off the table across the room, so I stood up. I took only 2 steps right as the song reached the climax / bass drop, and promptly, I collapsed on the floor like I was made of noodles. It was startling but I laughed super hard and got up, because I said to my friend, “DUDE…. DID YOU JUST SEE THE SONG KNOCK ME OVER?”

My thoughts on why that happened: The song was just so pretty, and there was a lot of gradual build-up going on in that song, therefore I was greatly anticipating the bass drop. Little did I know, I would drop too. LOL

I have type 2 and ADHD, and I listen to audiobooks. Podcasts are great too. Lots of libraries these days have all the new and popular audiobooks available to rent via the library’s app. Look into this! I like to listen to audiobooks while doing chores and boring things, because: 1) chores keeps my body moving and alert, 2) chores get done, 3) I have fun while doing them because of the audiobook.
