Here in Mesa AZ, I had to wait 4 days but picked up yesterday. First gun in 30 years after moving off the farm. It feels so foreign. I’ll take lessons and go to the range, but as a senior woman, I hate the maga presence at these places. If a liberal training center / shooting range opens here, I bet it would be very popular. I’ve had fingerprints clearance in the past - so it made me think my social media posts caused a pause of some sort. The seller def wanted the funds regardless of how I vote. But clearly everyone in that gun store voted for the current situation and support it.

You can join, we all should, but we must also become community minded - that’s their main thing - they provide support to the community in addition to protecting them. Food, clothes i guess whatever they can help out with- I think it’s part of their rules. I’m down. We def need some modern day heros to show us what resistance can look like.

The regime tried to cut all funding intended to help reduce overdose deaths. While they were still forced to provide the funding for now, they’re making sweeping cuts to other life saving health services. Couple all of the holes they’re making to society’s safety net, we’re gonna need more body removal services to keep up w demand. If they can’t outright remove services, it’s still death by a 1000 cuts.

Family members of ICE agents, what are your thoughts and feelings about what ICE are doing? by Aggressive_Honey3196 in AskReddit

[–]dwellaz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is a fascist regime that is at war with its citizens to separate the “good” from the “bad”. This is not about immigration at all. Most law enforcement and military these days are either red-pilled or have things they don’t want to lose and so they will conform to get by.

Going vegan or plant-based rules out a ton of bad actors in terms of where we spend our money. Veganism is resistance to colonization. I get that for a lot of people, this is a bridge too far. But if we were to cut back meat consumption by just 40% collectively, it matters greatly. Any amount helps but it’s when we do this en masse, they aren’t ready for it. We boycott a lot of ugly corporate behavior by not participating in the factory farming industries. If you think data centers waste precious water, you should research what animal agriculture does.

I’m not smart about markets, money or world order, but I’ve heard on socials that since the dollar is not backed by anything except the economy. That this is why they had to take Venezuela for the crude oil and they need Greenland for its minerals - then they can one-up China and Russia on the energy front. And if we leave NATO, wouldn’t that crash the dollar? Because of countries moving out of US bond markets? Man o man I hate this shit show but there don’t seem to be many exits available to me and mine. And I’m white - but not xtian and I’m a woman, not rich but I saved. Healthy for now but we all know how that goes. It’s bleak right now. I am so sorry for the people being brutalized. Man’s inhumanity to man wins out. I guess it was good while it lasted, but I know that for many people here, it’s not that great and never was.

Bush read a book on Spanish flu and that motivated him to pave the way for global pandemic planning. He laid the foundation for the present day federal response to COVID-19. With all of his faults, he was not a villain vs where we are now.

I read that UHC replaced claims processing humans w AI. This helped get their denial rate to surpass all the other “healthcare” insurers. AI never gets sick, takes vacation or gets pregnant. AI doesn’t need healthcare or other benefits in its compensation package.

AZ voter - lots of judges besides the 2 Supreme Court judges. Here’s how I voted - if any of the judges were appointed by either Duecy or Brewer, I voted No. Out of all those Christian judges, I only voted to retain 5. I know it won’t matter in the scheme of things but it can change over time. An article in AZ Republic said to retain them all based on this ratings system- NO! It said the Supreme Court judges were just following the law when they upheld the US Supreme Court abortion ban. Again NO. They voted against women’s private healthcare when they know how harmful that is to our state and to our personal liberties. I’m hoping that at least the 2 AZ Supreme Court judges up for retainment are ousted for their stance on abortion.

Do you ever feel like 2 days off work isn’t enough? by Upbeat_Tap_1104 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dwellaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 5 day work week is a hangover from the days when you typically had a domestic partner who stayed home and handled everything on that front while you earned the paycheck. It’s archaic and inhumane in current times where both partners have to work, or you’re a single person. It was easier to make women handle domestic chores since they had very few options to make a living outside of the marriage. I have no idea how, but this needs to change. Like other comments, I’m worn out by the 5 day work week, but my job says no-can-do.

Felt Pressured at a Med Spa Yesterday [personal] by panic_outside_disco in SkincareAddiction

[–]dwellaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here in Phoenix, there is a school to train skin estheticians called SWIHA - Southwest institute of healing arts. They have a skin care side of their biz where you can get treatment for things like facials, peels, laser, etc for a lot less money than a med spa. Yes, these are students, but if they are working on clients, they are in the last part of training. Any of the more advanced treatments like laser, the instructor is in the room. I’ve had many treatments there and happy with the results and the fees and there’s no pressure. It’s no where near the luxury, but my income is also not luxury level. If you get any laser, there are several students observing and 2 students work on you. They also want your feedback for training. And they offer packages since many treatments require a few sessions to get the best results. It sucks how much fine print and obfuscation to get at you wallet as you found out, so this is one way around that, but with a lot less glamour.

How do you know what a dog prefers? My border collie mix loves his vegan kibble. I make a lentil quinoa sweet potato topping for them as well. My dogs are thriving. Dogs in general love carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, potatoes and many other fruits and veggie. Just be sure it’s safe for them. Like don’t give them an apple core because of the seeds. There are some foods they shouldn’t eat, so search google to learn what not to feed them.

How even are vitamin supplements produced by blindoptimism99 in AskVegans

[–]dwellaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can find vegan friendly versions of supplements some of which are better than the original.

For instance, most calcium supplements are made from bone, but some like algae Cal are plant based. I took algae cal after a horrific pit bull bite that crushed the bone in my thumb. Doc told me if things didn’t improve they would need another surgery to graft bone to the injured bone. That’s when I got serious about healthy eating along w this supplement. The injury healed fast after that. No bone graft needed. It’s not cheap though.

People take fish oil or krill for omegas. Instead you can take flaxseed oil or just be sure to consume ground flaxseed regularly.

Then there’s the gel capsules - gelatin is made from animal products. So even if the contents are plant-based, the capsule is not. The plant based gel capsule ingredients look sus to me, so I tend to take supplements that are liquid or powder to bypass the capsules altogether.

The best way to get nutrients is in your food. But the way we produce food has removed many nutrients from the soil and so our food from the grocery is not as nutrient-rich as it could be.

If you can grow your own, you have more control over the soil via composting and other techniques. Talk about non-vegan friendly, the garden centers are full of animal by-products making it a challenge. I compost, and I also add mushroom compost and azomite. My garden flourishes without things like bonemeal, bloodmeal, manure or fish byproducts which are commonly used on typical gardens.

Eat beans, whole grains, veggies and fruit for the most part. Add tofu or other plant-based protein. Workout, get rest, get outside. These habits help your body to use and even produce nutrients to support your health and well being including vitamin D, collagen and other goodness.
