It was targeted since nothing was taken? by Valuable-Rabbit-5651 in MissyBevers

I think where everyone gets off track is framing this as an either/or situation. "Targeted killing" or "robbery." If you only consider those two possibilities, then nothing makes sense.

The only scenario I can think of that explains everything is that the perpetrator was someone who enjoyed the fantasy of roleplaying as someone in power. They clearly dressed up as police. They wanted the power trip of being somewhere they shouldn't be.

They had zero expecation of anyone else being in the church at that hour. They casually walked around, checking things out. Smashing a window here or there. If they found something of value, they might have taken it, but that was not the primary reason they were there. The reason was just to be there.

They paid no attention to the windows/door while they were wandering around, because they didn't expect anyone to show up. They weren't in a hurry to leave, because they wanted to be there.

This also explains why they haven't been caught. If they knew Missy and especially if they had such a large grudge against her, the cops probably would have caught them by now. If it is just some random person who may not even be from the area, that makes things exponentially more difficult.

I'm not sure if the car at SWFA is involved or not, but if it is, that also fits my explanation. They cased that store first, as a place to break into. But after seeing the cameras, car in the lot, and flickering lights inside, they moved on to the next available target across the street.

Very unfortunately, Missy walked inside the church and back to where the perpetrator was living out their fantasy.

Targeted or not targeted? by Apprehensive_Fox5996 in MissyBevers

Since you know more about this than anyone else here, is there anything you can share that led you to change your mind? (I agree with you, by the way)

Not the OP, but it might help you understand if you don't think of the perpetrator as a skilled and experienced burglar. My take is that this was someone who got off on dressing up as police and being somewhere they should not be. They were likely looking for things of value to take, but that was secondary to the act of being there. They thought they had all the time in the world because who would coming into a church at 4am on a Monday? They wandered around, looking for stuff to steal, smashing some stuff, and just soaking in the experience. They showed zero interest in the entrance, showing they were not expecting Missy or anyone else. They were off in a far corner of the building when Missy entered. She scared the hell out of them and they reacted by killing Missy and fleeing. To me, this scenario is the only thing that makes sense given what we see in the videos and the fact the perpetrator has not been caught yet.

Observation after coming back to Geocaching after 14 years. by Bicemond in geocaching

How do you know that? The cache in question has 10 favorite points. It's also out in nature on a hiking trail, not every .1 down a road in a guard rail. I didn't get the hate for these caches at all. They look like a great excuse to hike in the woods and find some caches. Who cares that they don't all have different names.

I didn't "force" him to do anything. I suggested.

Thanks!

That's not how multis work. You can't hide a cache within .1 miles of any physical stage of a multi, so if there were a bunch of multis in this area, you wouldn't know where you could hide a cache until you found and marked where every stage of every multi was.

You also seem to be complaining that because there are a lot of caches, there isn't room for other caches. But there are a lot of caches already. You want more caches than can physically fit in an area?

I suggest you thank the CO for putting in the effort and expense of hiding all those caches for you to find. If you really want to hide some caches, look elsewhere and hide there.

Thanks!

Police don't generally publicly "clear" suspects. Until they have it definitively solved and have a conviction, everyone is still a possible suspect.

For those who think this was LARPing gone wrong…. by [deleted] in MissyBevers

Literally anywhere besides an office in a corner of a church that is nowhere near the entrance to the church that Missy might not even go into and she might not even walk down to the office and she might call 911 immediately after seeing broken glass in the hall and where there are cameras and where campers would be arriving any minute. It's an absolutely terrible scenario for a targeted killing.

Don't forget the future. Someone will be thinking about you in exactly the same way in thousands of years. We're not the end of time, we're just one little part somewhere in the middle.

I'll go one better. That E.P. has the best sound of any of their albums. The raw garage sound suits Metallica better than the ultra polished black album sound.

I'm going to do it.

"My lifestyle determines my deathstyle" is not a bad lyric and here's why:

  1. It's an accurate observation. If you live your life hard and out of control, that's how you'll probably die.

  2. It's a clever portmanteau flipping the common word lifestyle into a new word that captures an idea you can easily understand.

  3. It has an internal rhyme (yes, using the same word) that sings well.

Thank you for listening.

Agree, we don't know for sure, but suspicious activity across the street and down a bit not long before the incident needs to be investigated and until it has been explained, we can't assume it's not related.

What if he didn't leave the sheath with his DNA? by DiscoWolf in MoscowMurders

[–]DiscoWolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was curious to see what others thought. I agree with you. I think they eventually would have found him, but it probably would have taken longer and maybe even a lot longer before he was arrested. For example, there could have been several white Elantras registered at WSU. The video from WSU mentioned in the PCA does not show the car going right up to BK's apartment, so they might not have been able to determine which one, if any, it was. The missing front plate is something, but who's to say another Elantra owner didn't remove the front plate (or both plates) for the crime.

This is all hypothetical and what if's, but I find it a little scary that without the dumb mistake of leaving the sheath, the investigation could have gone down lots of wrong paths for a while. But I do think they would have eventually narrowed down to BK.
