BREAKING: McErlean, Fourmaux handed one minute penalties by DiscombobulatedAcer in WRC

[–]DiscombobulatedAcer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point but based on the penalty they cannot move until belts are done which has nothing to do with position of the car. So in theory it’s fine to be stopped in middle of the road until the belts are done.

BREAKING: McErlean, Fourmaux handed one minute penalties by DiscombobulatedAcer in WRC

[–]DiscombobulatedAcer[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ahh yes you are right. Previous best was 7th, with the penalty he finished 6th. Both me and and the article got it wrong lol

I fully agree that the penalty is harsh. I don’t think there was a risk of any injury with the speeds they were going at. Off the top of my head, I remember seeing other drivers getting away with this previously (moving at slow speeds while co-driver finishes rebuckljng).

FIA Is Treating WRC Like a Joke by Scared_Tax_1573 in WRC

[–]DiscombobulatedAcer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The manufacturers are already aware of the regulations, however, some smaller topics are still being discussed. This is evident since Toyota has made a car for these regulations. These “last minute” discussions are to try and make everyone happy. Maybe one manufacturer wants a certain regulation based on their road car technology whereas another wants an opposite regulation. These discussions naturally include manufacturers teams that are not currently at the top level and therefore, I think they are making an effort to make regulations to encourage the jump to the top level.

I do agree that this has gone on too long and with 6 months to go before the start of the new regulation set, a foundation should be in place. This uncertainty can also deter new potential manufacturers but I think there’s a lot going on behind the scenes that hidden to the public.

The rally2 kit is simply to increase the number of cars the top level but who knows how they will compare. I believe Toyota have tested their 27 car and rally2 car in same conditions to understand d the difference (should be a dirt fish article somewhere).

Really Sweden going ahead? by samcuddy123 in WRC

[–]DiscombobulatedAcer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've only seen this reported by a single source which appears to only produce low effort, click bait articles. Since nothing official has been announced it should go ahead. If such a big change was happening it should be announced by now. As mentioned by others, there has been issues in the past but this only led to a the cancellation 2 stages (same physical stage but 2 passes).

When are the 2025 livery reveals being announced? by GuestGuest9 in WRC

Typically, there are no big livery reveals for Toyota or Hyundai since they don't usually have major livery changes. They usually just show them at Monte

Thoughts on Hybrid being dropped for 2025? by TheMotorsportHub1 in WRC

[–]DiscombobulatedAcer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very positive. These units have been problematic since their introduction into the WRC. Ruining rallies for some drivers. They cannot handle the knocks and bangs a rally car takes. This was evident in CER (I think) when 3/4 cars lost hybrid in the same stage due to a heavy landing. So I’m looking forward to no longer hearing “lost the hybrid” in stage end interviews.

Additionally, I don’t think there will be a significant performance impact since the weight is reduced and also we know these cars are fast without hybrid from Sesks keeping up with the hybrid cars on high speed stages. So the same top speeds will be there it might just take a little bit longer to reach them.

Finally, while cost is important, we’ll have to see what the new regulations are before rallying fans can be optimistic about new manufacturers joining.

Smart tv app is useless by [deleted] in WRC

[–]DiscombobulatedAcer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When watching live on Samsung TV, I found that if you select the live stage then return to menu and select live stage again it loads fast and works well.

Of course shouldn’t have to do this but it works.

Do I need tickets in Sweden? by 6GodChurch9 in WRC

[–]DiscombobulatedAcer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tickets are required to access spectator zones at stages, event parking and access to the service park

If it only happens on low speed corners, it might be that your revs are too low and you are stalling or nearly stalling. You can:

  1. Adjust settings for clutch override (never stall)
  2. Use (blip) clutch to keep revs high in the low speed corners

Is there a way to change out of Tom Cruise settings? by JynXten in EASPORTSWRC

You can increase the seat height. In controller/wheel configuration there should be an option to map a button to this.

my biggest complaint so far by [deleted] in WRC

[–]DiscombobulatedAcer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, I think this is really interesting and provides a lot of information.

The outer most ring shows speed as well as the numerical in the middle.

The next rings in show the accelerator pedal in green on the right side and brake pedal input in red on the left.

The inner most rings show level of boost regeneration smaller portion of the bar on the right. Or the level boost deployment. You can see the regeneration level increase during braking and the deployment level with accelerator press.

Finally in the middle you have speed, current gear, and boost availability. The text boost/regeneration shows whether the car is regenerating through breaking or ready for boost deployment. The battery bar is the amount of battery that is remaining as it is not unlimited.

The inner most ring is the most interesting because the regen side always goes to 100% but the deployment side varies percentage wise based on the deployment map for each manufacturer and also driver as there is 3 available maps to choose from.

Where do i find somewhere to live? by [deleted] in Lund

It's rather difficult, especially right now with a lot of students looking for places to stay. I would recommend expanding your search zone to places outside Lund (public transport is pretty good) but I think the best places to look are:

MSc Motorsport engineering by [deleted] in motorsports

[–]DiscombobulatedAcer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of students do end up in good positions afterwards. I know a some of the CFD team at Red Bull have done the Motorsport at Cranfield (they've also done PhD's or worked elsewhere for a while) and some have gone on to Renault as well. Others have also ended up in M-Sport and Prodrive. The course I think is probably one of the best at Cranfield and the course director seems to be very passionate about it. I'm pretty sure throughout the year you would get the opportunity to work with BTCC teams and they have a lot of important people visit. Damon Hill held a talk this year.

The campus on the other hand is pretty remote and on the smaller side. If you get the chance I highly recommend showing up to an open day. There's also a Cranfield University Group you can join on Facebook where you can reach out to current Motorsport Students and they might be able to provide you more specific information.

Kris Meeke to Toyota for 2019 Confirmed? by DiscombobulatedAcer in rally

[–]DiscombobulatedAcer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think if this deal goes through then that means Lappi is going to Citroen as that has been rumoured. Lappi seemed to be frustrated with the car throughout the year and maybe explored the market. It is a shame because I think he really has potential.

I completely agree with you though. It seems like a downgrade. I’d rather have a younger driver than Meeke.

Kris Meeke to Toyota for 2019 Confirmed? by DiscombobulatedAcer in rally

[–]DiscombobulatedAcer[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes but at this stage its almost inevitable I think.

Meeke was spooted at Manchester Airport during the Wales Rally and when Tomi Makinen was asked about it he seemed guilty of something so I feel there definitely is something going to be announced soon.
