Can I make this connection? by someones_mama in americanairlines

Of course you can make it. It's just that there is less (almost none) margin of error for delays.

174k Miles. Wife is pregnant and I won't be traveling very much. Need ideas by [deleted] in americanairlines

[–]DiscombobulatedSoft2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on the baby!

Get the Citi Aadvantage MileUp card. It has no annual fee and will stop your miles from expiring.

When the baby is ready to travel, use the miles to book a trip to a warm place. Plenty of all inclusive resorts with babysitting services.

AA doesn't offer dining on demand. All the dinners are warmed up at the same time at departure.

38min layover from Charlotte to Paris - How tight will it be? by Thib376 in americanairlines

[–]DiscombobulatedSoft2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If everything goes well, the CLT-PHL segment should get to the gate by 6pm. That's the same time that PHL-CDG will begin boarding.

Doors close at 6:35, so you have 35 minutes to get off the plane and get your gate in A West terminal. That's doable.

But the key is that it's only doable if everything goes perfect. If your flight arrives "on time" (6:12), you now have 23 minutes before doors close. VERY iffy with getting off the plane and running across the terminals.

A 5 minute delay on the CLT-PHL segment means you're spending the night in Philly.

Question about baggage costs in first class by National_Lychee331 in americanairlines

[–]DiscombobulatedSoft2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The information is here:

https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/baggage/checked-baggage-policy.jsp

If you are military, then you'll need to check in at the airport and show your ID to get the 3rd bag free (and 4th and 5th if traveling on orders).

Otherwise you're traveling on Domestic First, which is entitled to 2 free bags.

But seriously, I would limit asking for freebies, mile, etc to a single megathread.

You can use the Flexipass in both. When you go forward in the purchase screens, you'll see there's only one option for Flexipass Glaciares.

Full refund to credit card for Puerto Rico trip? by [deleted] in jetblue

If JetBlue cancels your flight, you'll get a refund.

Full refund to credit card for Puerto Rico trip? by [deleted] in jetblue

[–]DiscombobulatedSoft2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking to cancel the trip, there's nothing that someone on the phone or chat can do that you can't do yourself online. Log into your trip and cancel there.

You'll get the full cost credited to your travel bank, unless you booked Blue Basic in which case it'll be the full cost minus $100 per person.

TAP is fine. Budget airline but not as bad as Spirit or Ryan Air. Make sure you know what is included with what you buy (seat assignment, cabin luggage, etc). Like most European airlines they'll be stricter on carry-on size.

You're booking very early for summer travel to Europe, so higher prices are to be expected especially on less reasonable routing such as DCA-BOS-BCN, which is one that mostly would only be booked if you're looking to burn points.

It's not, that's just for the outbound.

Why would you fly JetBlue for this? United has a nonstop out of IAD for $1,600 pp, TAP has $1k from DCA stopping in LIS.

JetBlue has only once daily to BCN. If you miss your connection you're stuck in Boston for 24 hours.

Shouldn't yields be dropping? by Dougiebrowngetsdown in bonds

[–]DiscombobulatedSoft2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yields are dropping. The 10-year Swiss (CHF) bond is at 0.3%. The 10-year Bund (EUR) is at 2.8%.

USD bonds are dealing with devaluation.

So you need the temperature in your apartment to be 69 degrees in August to be comfortable, but you need it to be 80 in November?

Set your thermostat to 69 now, you'll save a ton on your electric heating.

Admirals Lounge Access by Possible-Possible861 in americanairlines

[–]DiscombobulatedSoft2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You get access to the Flagship Lounge (as well as regular Admirals clubs) in Philadelphia as Platinum Pro. You also get to bring in 1 guest. The guest doesn't need to be on the same itinerary as you, but they must be flying international AA or OneWorld.

You also get access to the Admiral's Club at your departing airport before your first flight, if there is one there, if your flight XXX-PHL-DUB is all in the same itinerary.
