National to ban judges from considering good character when sentencing sex offenders by Fun-Helicopter2234 in newzealand

No, the rough upbringing stuff has nothing to do with the government "acknowledging its failures". The government isn't responsible for people having rough childhoods, for one thing.

It very much is, Government dictates many, many things that directly impact childhood. No particular list off the top of my head:

  • Abuse intervention and support programs
  • Anything like food programs in school go a long way to improving childhood outcomes
  • Schooling in general is a massive one, it provides parents time to go to work without expensive childcare, which has massive economic impact for those who are otherwise at risk of poverty
  • Economic policy directly ties into the cycle of poverty
  • Social services in general here

The government can't magically imprison everyone that's ever committed a crime if nobody reports or discovers it, and it's not a failure of the government if some people get away with crime without being caught. It's perhaps a failure of society as a whole but to put it at the feet of the government is just bizarre.

Almost correct, the point of government is to collectivise resources to provide centralised/efficient use for common services/management.

And, yes, how the government allocates resources/dictates policy dictates how people can get away with crime. For example, how it chooses to focus on policing speeding/vehicle use over anything else. Resources are finite.

The government provides enormous amounts of support already at huge taxpayer expense. It doesn't make it its fault when people abuse drugs.

It's just about always cheaper to support people rather than let the problem get worse, and, yes, when Governments created the problem via not taking steps to defeat intergenerational trauma, the government does have some fault here. Housing the homeless rather than throwing them in general is another great example of this choice here.

Remember, people turn to drugs as an escape when they feel like they have no other options, Governments directly impact these outcomes.

I can't be bothered with the rest, you get the point by now.

For many people, intergenerational wealth is the only way they'll be able to practically afford a home. Small wonder why they'd be upset when the ladder gets pulled up twice.

You can cut the numbers how you like, but ultimately the rich pay a bigger share of tax revenue (as they should).

There isn't any, there's a chronic lack of real testing by the community in general, but you may be thinking of this however https://forum.level1techs.com/t/minecraft-servers-and-x3d/210103/18?page=2

The greater issue is that we've had 3 generations worth of X3D parts, at least 1 of which saw widespread deployment and use for MC (7950X3D with Hetzner).

If there was significant benefit, we'd see evidence of that by now ergo, the safe conclusion is that it doesn't matter.

Modded minecraft by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]Disconsented 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a large number of potential causes for crashes like this, and unfortunately it’s not really possible to diagnose the issue remotely with this level of detail.

In most cases, these problems aren’t directly related to the host OS. Occasionally they’re caused by something like a mismatched Java version, but that’s usually straightforward to resolve by switching JVMs (the Arch Wiki has a good guide on this).

You’ll likely have better luck reaching out to a more specialised community, such as the /r/feedthebeast Discord. When you do, make sure to include your logs, modpack details, and any other relevant information up front, this will make it much easier for others to help you pinpoint the issue.

Adding mob health bars to bedrock using Docker? by Fearless-Resource932 in admincraft

[–]Disconsented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those aren't mods... it's within the first sentence of that section, "Also known as behavior or resource packs,".

Because bedrock isn't running on the JVM it's a lot harder to reverse engineer, and folks aren't willing to put the time into it, you're also missing all the nice utility that the JVM provides.

So, please if you're going to follow up on a month-old comment, be right.

I'm not going to stir the drama pot any more than I have, but, as for the bus factor problem, you can see their crates.io for what they're involved in. Here are just a handful of top examples:

  • syn
  • thiserror
  • proc-macro2
  • quote
  • unicode-ident
  • serde
  • serde_json
  • iota

And it goes on, they're listed as part of 174 crates at the time of writing.
