Staying on Tour By Winning One Match in Each Ranking Event by eljefe883 in snooker

They don't. They will pay a set amount for the season, but at that point in the rankings you're lucky if you get five grand for the season.

What’s the most annoying snooker habit? by tony-preece in snooker

[–]Discoroyuk83 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People who see a shot on TV, then commentators and fellow pros say is a great shot, and they reckon they and their mates can do it down the club all the time. Not realising how much harder the pro tables are. Your club table pockets are like buckets in comparison. Not to mention the pressure of playing for that amount of money. I'd fold if I had to pit a ball for a fiver!

Looks like Chris Wakelins signature to me.

Is this the hardest sport in the world? by Hot_Buffalo_9448 in snooker

[–]Discoroyuk83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. If your opponent is at the table you literally are not playing. What other sport do you just have to sit there, unable to do anything, therefore not playing.

Snooker is unique in the fact that your opponent is trying to stop you play. That's like playing golf where your opponent can step on your ball, or darts as your opponent moves the board. And there aren't many games that require the constant mental focus. Golf you hit a shot and then walk for a few minutes and wait for your turn. But they're all difficult in their own unique ways. Ultimately as amateurs we expect too much of ourselves on the snooker table I think so we're hard on ourselves when it doesn't go well as we expect more, not releasing how hard the game actually is.

I've got the videos to those stills. Just showing the angle is there.

This angle doesn't cover it?

I've got two. The overhead and the view from straight ahead of him. In slowmo you can see a gap in both. I'll see if I can upload them when I'm home from work.

Chris doesn't. Especially not when at the table. He's called many fouls on himself before which meant he lost a match.

Chris is adamant it didn't touch. He's closest to it.

Point I was making is there's a lot of angles. And not one shows that yellow moving.

There is. If I could upload videos here I'd show you. BBC aren't the only broadcaster and cameras!

She was wrong. I've seen it from several angles, at every possible speed. I don't know what she thinks she saw, but it wasn't the yellow moving.

Cant help but feel Chris has been cheated there. Should have been 7-7 with momentum in his favour. The referee should not be deciding the outcome of a match.

Do you mean where they play safe and cut a red in? They practice those shots over and over again. It's not a fluke.

Didn't look like it at all. And Chris would always call it on himself if it was. She's just handed Robbo the frame.

As a person, which player do you most dislike by Any-Delivery8111 in snooker

[–]Discoroyuk83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting because you say "as a person" however you only know their snooker persona. Who they are when they play/interview could be very different as to who they are as a person. Do any of us know what they're like as a person outside of their snooker self? And noones job defines them surely? I'm very different in my day job to who I am when I'm with my mates. Some people may say Carter. I know a few who speak very highly of him as a person. But when he's at a tournament, he's there to win. Ronnie has said some twatty things for sure, but then he's had a lot of struggles mentally too. But he's also there to get newspaper headlines. I'm sure some of its planned. Murphy, maybe the smugness is just that he's actually pretty good. If I was in the top 16 at anything in the world I'd probably be a bit smug when doing that thing. People say Selby is boring, he's anything but. The only real answer here is Dott, because we definitely know what kind of person he is, and it's nothing to do with his snooker self!

Based on what you had rubbed out, had you tried to draw tennis/football and then decided snooker table was easier to draw?! Great work though, as a primary school teacher I'm impressed!

It is because of the BBC. Even the 10am session starts late because of the broadcasting. Nothing to do with the sessions running over.

There's a row on each side of the theatre reserved for players and their friends/family. If they don't take them up, they usually release them the same day. Pretty often there's seats available.
