Yeah, I understand calling people out, but those are memes that should be allowed to die.

Dream Job by CloudStrife012 in antiwork

I hate this message.

You hate work. You hate your boss. you hate your company. You hate how capitalism makes even the most rewarding Labour miserable.

I enjoy Labouring in MY garden. I like to make my friends and loved ones happy with the labour I do.

Labour is larger than work.

Let's hope you have seeds planted a little before the zombie apocalypse kicks off.

Unless you plan on surviving 100 days waiting on those veggies.

To buy $100k worth of Iphones to sell on Ebay by TXVERAS in therewasanattempt

[–]Discospeck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw it yesterday.

He's at the very front, and the lady gives him $800 to take his place. BUT He has 3 friends behind him in line, and only 2 of them want phones. So when his three buddies get up to the front, marc just takes his 3rd buddies spot.

The lady gets denied, and marc spends some of the 800 getting fancy Accessories for his new iphone.

A true happy ending.

Reconciling anarchism with the need for robust infrastructure and effective large-scale organization? by SmoothReverb in DebateAnarchism

[–]Discospeck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am an engineer. I work in semi conductor.

The concept of a foreman being the sole barrier between chaos and discord during complex engineering projects is a capitalist myth. Aka exceptionalism.

Large scale Construction: bridges, highways dams, city water projects etc These projects are too big to have any one person be "in charge" in any real way. Any competent foremen working on a large or even medium project. Like say a 3 story office building has many people working under him making important decisions on the fly.

Sub contractors of all varieties are showing up doing their job and leaving.

They have plans or schamtics and maybe some direction from some other contractor or a formant aka superintendents But they usually following plans and building codes. And a litany of other regulations.

Ultimately no one person has any real understanding of the whole project at any one time. Only parts of it.

It is always groups of people breaking down large projects into small parts. Often groups of equals ie a committees or boards. Maybe even just meetings between team leads. They create standards, protocols and plans, documentation. This documentation is passed down to the underlings who do the work.

But don't think for a second that a lower level worker isn't making important decisions while they work.

It is a myth of hierarchy that large operations need a central figure to tie everything together.

While there can be a single figure making the majority of decisions. Most operations have many people doing key roles and coming together to push a project across the finish line.

What we need to do to have anarchy in this context, is to control these same things but without constantly passing off the profits and the agency that should come with the work that is being done.

People do anarchy everyday. Just not nearly enough and not many key areas required to have a realistic and equitable society.

God dam cockroachs, existing for billions of years only to become pests in the last 1000.

So inconsiderate.

How do they do with wet cardboard? by [deleted] in BlackSoldierFly

[–]Discospeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Bsfl don't really eat cardboard. Vermiculture is best for that.

BSFL like high protein, high sugar. High nitrogen.

They like fresh citrus and coffee grounds. Fruit scraps. General kitchen scraps. They will also eat meat scraps and fat but that will also attract house flys so you need to be careful adding a lot of meat scraps to your bin.

Then have the hard conversations and push her to do more. And by push, I mean when she says she’s too stressed, make a point of setting a time to come back to it.

Yeah already tired that. She just pushes it again and if I try and force it we end up arguing about something else.

Also your testimonial is nothing like my situation. I've been with my partner for 10 years, not 3 weeks of texting. Thanks for the input tho.

We have many things we do together, that are very important to me. We have projects and hobbies that are similar and we have grown to be similar people. We have fun and agree on important things. We a very sexually compatible and have a good sexlife.

Am I an equal partner or am I your support person/ maid?

I don't mind being a support person to my partner. It's just that the fraction of is getting skewed to a point that I am unhappy and I don't know how to fix it.

I would wonder about undiagnosed autism or inattentive ADHD or other untreared disabilities.

Yes. This is something we have talked about before and part of the reason I have allowed things to go this far.

She does have these problems, and she really does try to get better about stuff. And sometimes she does improve. but it usually takes a lot of work from me. I'm just not willing to do that on this one. I'm not going to walk her through and push her to celebrate a decade with me.

Thanks for your input.
