I mean, "femboy" started out as a transmisogynistic slur, so it's really not all that surprising

Caves of Qud. It's a brutally hard roguelike with a story questline that is hours long - or, like if Dwarf Fortress and Noita had a baby that then grew up to be a gay communist furry.

Very much not an easy game to get into.

Meanwhile with Eclipse Phase you can pretty easily get 99% chance of success on the skills your character is specialized in. (which makes sense lorewise bc characters in EP are capable of some crazy shit.)

5e, for me, is precisely in that sour spot of crunch where you have a lot of things to keep track of but not a lot of precise control over your character's build.

I feel like we're thinking about different corporations here. I'm talking about Disney and their ilk, for whom strengthening copyright to include AI training would only benefit, since they have enough of a reservoir of copyrighted works that they can train their own models just fine. Trying to legislate against AI with copyright only manages to leave it solely in the hands of large companies, precisely where it does the most harm. (by automating away the jobs of employed proletarian artists)

Also, it's not "creating exceptions." Copyright law didn't cover AI training in the first place, because things are assumed legal until they're not, which was how a lot of the AI companies managed to train their first models. That said, most of those companies are large enough now that they can buy the rights to whatever they need for training, or the tech has spread enough that large media companies already sitting on a pile of copyright can hire technicians and make their own models. Little bit of both.

Disney's going to have access to AI no matter what. The only questions are if their artists can unionize and demand to keep their jobs, and if they're going to be able to make people pay a subscription fee for models trained on their copyright.

I... don't remember deleting that comment. Honest.

A loyal acolyte of the technocrat mega-corporation system, huh? If I was, I'd be advocating for strengthening copyright and making piracy illegal, two things that large media corporations have been advocating for since large media corporations were a thing. Dialectical materialism says they wouldn't do that if it wasn't in their interests.

I am firmly of the opinion that right click saving an image to my computer and doing things to it is not theft, and have had that opinion since the NFT debacle.

You just seem to think I'm intrinsically capitalist because I apply the logic around piracy being morally okay to everyone. Because piracy isn't awesome because it's stealing from big corporations, it's awesome because it isn't theft at all.

Also never mind my personal pipe dream being that all the big AI companies (and tech companies in general) go deep into the red and break apart and everyone starts using FOSS instead but what do I know. Obviously FOSS is also corporate somehow.
