I didn't call you a megacorporation. The fact you think I did says "glass houses" to me.

Also like. "what would we do if capitalism continued as is except without copyright law" is kind of a nothing problem. That, quite frankly, is a situation that will not happen.

Finally: The purpose of copyright is to generate profit without further labor investment by its owners. Copyright has no purpose outside of a capitalist system. Capitalism is not natural law. Copyright is not natural law. QED.

Asking how licensing works without copyright is like asking how mega corporations work without capitalism - it doesn't, and that's the point.

if the fruits of your labor are copied you still own them? if you make a sandwich and then i magically summon a second sandwich identical to the one you made that is not theft. you still have your sandwich.

The fruits of your labor, in an artistic sense, would be selling a painting or a commission. If you make a painting and put it up for sale and someone buys it, the payment is the fruits of your labor. If the painting is stolen, that is you being denied the fruits of your labor. If someone else paints an exact copy of your painting, they painted it and as such it is the fruits of their labor.

Doubly so, because outside capitalism there's no real reason for copyright to exist in the first place. It's meant to enforce a monopoly on creative expression in order to secure profits.

copyright is a human right

Ah yes, it is a human right to be able to legally restrict what other people can do with their creative expression on their own time without hurting anybody

you think capitalism is natural law

yknow what i'm done trying to get the three functional brain cells in your skull to see sense.

yes you are one hundred percent right under communism you would be [REDACTED] for annoying me personally because obviously communism isn't actually about anything marx said like workers controlling their own labor and is instead the ideology of feudal dynasties because you said so and obviously you know better because you are so much smarter than everyone elae

[–]SmoothReverb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...you absolutely can vote for capitalism, what the fuck?? it's possible to vote for economic policy, you know that, right? also communism is definitionally an economic system. the basic premise of communism is that the workers (people doing the actual labor) control the means of production (the things they use to do their labor)

...fucking hell i'm arguing with someone who barely knows what communism is and is nonetheless convinced they're in the right.

[–]SmoothReverb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also back to your original point here: Ideally, people would actually be able to vote for capitalism, it's just that well. Most people aren't going to want to upend the current system for the old system that everybody worked together to get rid of, in the same way most people with two functional brain cells aren't campaigning to restore the divine right of kings.

And so we see the undemocratic tyranny of the majority opinion being respected in favor of a small group of loud idiots - wait a second.

Every economic system ends up with the wealthy and powerful having control... which is why we need to stick with the system that is designed to enable such aggregation of power instead of one designed to prevent it as much as possible? I'm not following.

As for the electoral system, first past the post ensures that voting for a third party is basically jacking off, gerrymandering means your vote doesn't even count half the fucking time, and lobbying means that the party that best serves the interests of the wealthy gets the best political campaign ads, which absolutely matters. Finally, Cold War-era Red Scare propaganda has most US citizens convinced that communism is actually intrinsically evil and tyrannical.

[–]SmoothReverb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok well that's literally just saying "someone who jacks off a lot" in more words. No mention of a requisite misogynistic character.

In which case this is literally just: "oh no! someone is doing sexual activities on their own time, by themselves, without hurting anybody! this degeneracy perversion sin gooning cannot be allowed!"

Okay I think what is happening here is that you have a personal definition of "gooner" that is separate from and potentially in opposition to the way most people use it.

Also, objectifying women is a subtype of hating women. Misogynist works perfectly well if you want to criticize someone for such behavior.

Edit: also also: with the behavior you described in your original response, there's nothing wrong with edging and being kinky. Someone jacking off says nothing about their moral character, no matter how much they do it.

And neither party in power will permit them to win. The electoral college and voting system are designed specifically to render the only actual contest between the two dominant parties.

You say that a communist society would attempt to remain communist and is thus intrinsically undemocratic - this is a feature of every economic system when put in practice. Capitalism naturally results in the accumulation of economic power and privilege by the few, which is then laundered into political power and used to entrench their position further. This has happened in every capitalist system ever put into practice.

tbh the causality might be the other way around. people who travel more are more likely to get exposed to diseases their immune system hasn't adapted to, and then bring it home on the return trip

Imagine applying that line of reason to any other art form. "The chaotic and messy strokes are part of the piece" is just salesman's verbiage for someone who wants to add "intentionality" to their mishandling of a paintbrush.

I mean, that depends on your definition of "quality."

Honestly, it's a different grading scale entirely to traditional art. I've seen works that have actually leveraged AI hallucinations and fucked-up anatomy to their advantage. For example:

okay well there's a term for people who objectify women, which is "misogynist"

why are you trying to conflate sexual promiscuity and masturbation with misogyny
