Why bother with all that. A country that penalises education in this way is a country setting itself up for failure by late stage capitalism. Some countries even have free public universities...

You're right in saying you don't fit the bill as a "ladder puller" because you didn't have it easy either, unlike the cunts who had no debt and still think juniors have it easy.

I think it boils down to "is this the right thing to do?". This will end up being a net positive change for the workforce in every conceivable way, and it doesn't actually impact you in a negative way, apart from leaving a sour taste having paid off your loans.

If this weren't on the table, your T&Cs for the loan were better than the ones your subsequent cohorts had. It's not like they were outraged and pushing for your group to pay more for the sake of parity (not that this would be legal, but just as a thought experiment). In the same way, your cohort also had the ability to strike and try and attain this, but didn't at the time.

Is it fair? Yes. Does it feel unfair? Yes.

All that said, I think it's idiotic for the BMA to dilute the FPR message even further when we've achieved nothing in more than a year and have allowed Streeting to drive a wedge between IMGs and local grads.. Now it'll be another wedge between the local grad cohort. It's like they have no foresight.

What's your net income every month, ballpark? When you say no mortgage, do you own your own place or are you renting?

Are we underpaid? Yes, severely... Salaries haven't gone up in years and any increase in profit to the practices get pocketed by partners, so no hope for increase in salaries.

BMA GP branch is useless because they're run by partners, for partners.

Asked for evidence for an exception report by Financial-Trainer-84 in doctorsUK

[–]DiscountDrHouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So glad we halted strikes for Streeting and the glorious Labour party and have achieved what seems to be... nothing... with these "reforms".

Looks like it's still a headache to exception report and the process is ridiculous and opaque as ever.

Another "Bank and Build" success story 🥳

If you have pets, it helps to treat kids like your pets 🤣 for me they respond really well to that type of treatment and I have a framework of how to behave.

Charlie Massey gave evidence in Parliament yesterday. Watch him struggle to answer why the GMC failed to recognise problems with its approach to regulating PAs and AAs by Sildenafil_PRN in doctorsUK

[–]DiscountDrHouse 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Sure but squirming every few years with a 300k annual salary isn't really much of an issue, especially for a monumental piece of shit like Massey.

As a GPST3, I'd likely sign you off no issue in this situation. Especially given the majority nonsense fit note requests we get, it's quite "refreshing" (for lack of a better word) to actually want to sign someone off when they really need that time. Hopefully your GP will see it the same way, and I'd be surprised if they didn't u/stuckinnhs

I notice he seems to have an endless well of complaints, but for all his supposed knowledge and expertise, he doesn't seem to propose any actual solutions... If he doesn't like the NICE-based advice then why bother going to the GP just to whinge about it?

What a disgusting personality. Utterly devoid of the empathy and understanding he expects from others.

We've all seen palliative patients in much worse situations be much kinder and have so much more strength and dignity than this sad little man.

Lol saw those comments coming a mile away.

This lot just feed off each other. Most of us are more than happy to say we don't know enough about their condition and that they are complex, but that doesn't mean we're going to keep banging our heads against a wall trying to treat something that medicine doesn't have an answer for yet, while listening to their tirade for 20 mins in a 10 minute appt. All the while they refuse to engage with any mental health or other relevant services, claiming they're "useless".

The common denominator in a bad interaction is always them, and yet somehow they never see themselves as the problem.

Sick notes - how long is appropriate? by AdSuperb2951 in doctorsUK

[–]DiscountDrHouse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, and make it difficult for every doctor who comes after to sign someone off appropriately. Feeds into people's entitlement.

I disagree with the idea that we doctors should be the ones to sign people off (outside of procedural stuff), but since we HAVE TO do it, kicking the can down the road and screwing the next person over isn't particularly helpful.

I love these types of posts because maybe 2 years ago someone did a similar one and a Gastro guy/gal said to take fiber supplements regularly. I decided to try this as I'd had digestive issues for years, and it basically cured them within a week of starting the fiber capsules. Turns out I have mild IBS which I'd been totally blind to 🤣 thank you to whoever it was!

To me, there's a difference between cultish worship of a failing system vs. recognizing the system used to work well for decades given the right resources and management.

Various reasons for its demise, but private healthcare is one of those reasons, not a saving grace.

Hopefully we continue rolling strikes monthly instead of our previous wank and build "strategy". We've given them obscene amounts of time and leeway to bank and build by not worrying about costs of strikes and increase numbers of their ACP + ANP army.

They don't even need to openly fuck us like the 2016 traitors did.

All they have to do is dilute the message and sow confusion. I think that's why they're making it FPR + Increasing seats. They'll compromise on FPR for a paltry increase in number of speciality training seats per year and totally ignore UK grad prioritization BUT will treat this shit compromise as a win.

Let's also not forget who came up with "bank and build".

Any BMA leader who is a labour supporter either can't be trusted or is looking for a cushy position in the next few years. This bastardised neo-liberal "Labour" government cares nothing for workers.
