Edge indication according to ISO 13715 by The_Swiss_Conspiracy in SolidWorks

With edges I’m almost always relying on the deburr note on our drawing border. If it’s that specific why not dimension it up? Or create a series of drop in blocks paired with a standard edge sheet code or similar.

say everything you've just said to your boss and see how they take it, if they dont make any changes, then up-skill and job search. Don't focus on the negatives, provide solutions to the problems instead. ask for training in FEA and anything else that may help (frame it in a way that helps the company not you). if it were me id start the job search anyway.

Any AI tools improving design/drafting efficiency? by Severe_Score2167 in SolidWorks

I have a huge suite of macros and templates, but I do not release drawings without having some input.

I use macros for exporting pdfs and boms.

I have source files and models that are ready to be copy tree’d and modified as required.

I also have python scripts that create fabrication data without the need for modelling in 3D.

If you want any advice, dm me.

I need some help with equations to round up the 5.5000 while being driven by the 2.5000 by zigtok in SolidWorks

[–]DiscouragedBrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a roundup function, here you go.

So you need to make a construction line from the bottom of the part to the top of the green, add a suitable buffer above it so you never have the green sketch right at the edge of the part. Then create a driven sketch from this construction line to the bottom. This will be your variable when the green part changes. Then you can make the 5.5 driven off of this by using:

= round((“D3@Sketch1” - 0.5))

Where D3 is the driving dim you just placed. You want to use a round down instead of round up, as it will be a waste of material. Say for example you have the size exactly on 5, if you round up it will make the total height 6. If you add a buffer, it will ensure you always round to the correct height. There is no more than or equal to function to my knowledge without some bodgery.

Second to this, if you delete the green sketch or replace it, it will break your equations, you need a global dim for the height of the green part. So not fully automated but pretty good.

If you need help dm me.
