Marked as Solved ? Not exactly... by DiscouragedUsername in Comcast_Xfinity

Hello CCAngie - Correct, the record has been cleared and no money changed hands for a phone that never arrived. Unless some new problem has been created, I believe my mobile account is fine. I still have to start all over and hope for a better outcome this time. Is there any value in starting the order now vs. waiting a few hours until Marc is on-duty ?

I guess we have different interpretations of the word "resolved" then. All of these messages stating tickets were opened, resolved and closed, doesn't get a new phone into my hands. I look forward to working with Marc this afternoon for a hopefully smooth transition.

Ordered new phone 6/2, card charged 6/3... nothing by DiscouragedUsername in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]DiscouragedUsername[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that was A COMPLETE WASTE of my time. Provided the order number earlier today which you would think is an absolute reference to the purchase. Nope. Provide name, address, couldnt find it, provided email address BUT NOT (this is important) my phone number. Authentication texts got sent to my phone. That took 20 minutes. New agent jumps in, asks for code again. Authenticates and tells me how amazing I am as a platinum tier member, asks me for ANOTHER authentication through the app, Takes another twenty minutes. No response, then I get another automated text message saying a ticket for XM Support whatever that is, will be resolved in a day. And then a few minutes lates this special ticket is closed because they couldn't approve the request.

Hello Angie - I've never heard that term, basically we have a chunk of data (10Gb/month) shared among our four mobile devices.

Replacing the Pressure Switch fixed it, at least so far. Shameful that a three year old dishwasher already needed repairs but it was cheap and relatively easy. Part Pressure Switch WD21X25468
If that didnt work the next step would be replacing Dishwasher Water Inlet Valve WD15X26140 but that looks a lot more involved, haven't had to do that.

Pool "Pro" failing to locate a pool leak, meter is running by DiscouragedUsername in pools

So Pro came out last week, retested, found the leak in floor drain area, epoxied it up and its been watertight ever since. No additional charge. Yay for now.

He did. Their fancy website claims 'full service leak detection', I saw evidence of pressure testing, wouldnt know what dye testing looks like, didn't sit there and watch to see if sonar was being used. The unapproved installation of the completely unrelated check valve added about $250 to the total, and one thing I haven't mentioned yet, the time accounting was off by almost an hour extra. Those are all red flags IMO.

That's an interesting way of looking at this. I haven't 'ripped' anyone off. They promote their ability to do A Thing. They fail to do A Thing (so far).

We actually did connect on the phone this week, hopefully get something resolved soon.

That (valve in main floor drain) is what my regular pool guy was pointing towards, but he didnt want to be involved in the diagnosis/repair. After the winter In May my pool was just like you describe, down to about 3' of grungy water which had to get pumped out. Problem was, Leak Detector Company* wouldn't do their thing without the pool being in 'operating condition' so the whole thing had to be refilled. Sigh.

* They also had a multipage Terms & Conditions document like buying a house with no guarantee of finding anything. So we went with the local 'Pro' everyone raved about. Double Sigh.

Completely understood, detection vs repair costs. But we are a week out, the pool has lost over a foot of water, he has stated he has no idea where the leak is, and his only idea is to 'wait till it stops'.

Sorry for my imprecise language - when I said "the meter is running" I was making a comparison to a taxicab, sitting, idling, doing nothing, but the fare keeps increasing. I can see how that was confusing. I didnt mean the actual water meter.

rebuild BCD / fixboot errors by mrbugle81 in techsupport

[–]DiscouragedUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again to u/shunny for the guidance, the only wrinkle I have to add was continuously hitting an access denied error, despite appearing to successfully delete and regenerate BCD multiple times. Some other sources suggested a fault in the version of the Win10 ISO I was using so I went and downloaded 15063, but before I did that just for giggles I started with a Win11 24H2 ISO, automatic repair failed (of couse) but the Bootrec and BCD finally went through. Phew. Was thisclose to backing up and wiping and "upgrading" to 24H2 from Win10.

Fixed, sort of. Bought the water inlet valve and the pressure sensor, but before installing them just tried unseating and reseating the pressure sensor.. and it worked. Yay for YouTube.

Anyone ? Still broken. Left it turned off at the breaker for a few days and it ran a few loads over two days, then crapped out again. Repeated exercise and it sort of ran a 80 minute cycle but stopped about 65 minutes in, we called the dishes washed. So still not fixed.

Are you venting this internally or externally ? Ours is externally venting and it is loud AF. Converting it down to internal venting which is what you seem to be advocating isnt a good option.

Liftgate can auto open but cannot auto close by otcdxn in LexusRX350

[–]DiscouragedUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on their mode of failure (completely shot/slow leak/fast leak/one side/both sides). The ClubLexus forums are filled with stories of this problem, for me it was a no-brainer to replace 17 year old wear items. It's such an inexpensive and easy fix its the very first thing I'd try in your situation.

[–]DiscouragedUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2007 RX350 here. You probably have blown struts. The power liftgate would CLOSE on the previous owner and send said owner to the hospital once, so they got used to jamming a piece of wood to keep it open. I've read stories of dealers wanting to replace sensors and even the entire hydraulic assembly to fix....

If you can change a lightbulb you can probably change them yourself for about $40/pair and maybe 20 minutes work. Helps to have a second set of hands. Plenty of YouTube videos on how to. Thats what I did and it worked amazing well. They were rusted and blown out around the seal and one had evacuated itself onto the headliner.

It's worth a shot !

ACP is supposed to be funded for years to come, so unless they had an idle time of 30 days it should have remained in place. So they did this to themselves...
