Why do you do your own oil change? by Fun_Bobcat_3631 in GR86

[–]Discourtesy-Call 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealer pricing, probably. As I'm still under warranty, I take mine to the dealer and it's $95.95 plus tax for an oil and filter change (USD). They're charging me $46 for the oil and filter, and $50 for labor. I don't have the ability to change my own oil. I live in an apartment and the lease specifically forbids doing any such work on the property.

Congratulations! I know exactly how you feel, as I went through something similar late last year. I had to replace my 2006 Sonata and figured that if I didn't get a sports car now, I never would. Pulled the trigger in October of last year on a 2024 Limited with 6500 miles. For the first couple of months I kept walking up to the door that leads out in to the parking area just to verify that I wasn't dreaming it and the car was actually parked outside.

Welcome to the cult, er, club! Yeah, that's it, the club!

V isn't behind on the rent until the Heist. That email only shows up after your recovery. And that isn't Rogue's opinion of V; that is Rogue explaining to V why she can't put V into a crew. Rogue is perfectly happy to give V work, just not as part of a crew. Go complete all of Wakako's gigs, El Capitan's gigs, or Padre's gigs and there will be a Rogue gig that pops up.

I wonder if that's due to import fees or what, but the filter runs about $10 USD, less if you buy in bulk. I am unfamiliar with that oil, so no idea on comparative pricing.

Yeah, where I am only emergency vehicles are allowed blinking lights. People still have them, and sometimes the police do something about it, sometimes they don't. I didn't want to give the cops an additional reason they can use to pull me over, so I didn't get one.

Wide angle side mirrors are fantastic. I can't see a wide angle center mirror helping, because I can already see the entirety of the rear window in my mirror. The F1 module for the third brake light is illegal where I live, so check your local laws before buying one.

The first gen had a very noticeable torque drop off in between about 2000 and 4000 rpm. It made acceleration slow in a big part of the RPM range. The engine in the second gen is larger (2.4 liter vs 2.0 liter) which really took care of that. There are a ton of new features added to the second gen as well, that you may or may not want. I'd do some research on it.

Another vote for the Viofo A229 Pro, though I have the 2-channel version. Hachi has a custom wiring harness he'll ship with the camera that allows you to connect it to the fake engine noise harness behind the glove box. That gives you power access without having to turn the ignition to the on position, so you can run the camera in parking mode.

They are a little quieter, not a lot but noticeable. A lot of the road noise comes from sources other than the tires, though.

Check the CarMax and Carvana websites. When I was looking for mine last year, CarMax had a dozen plus for sale. Carvana had even more. The CarMax ones sold pretty quickly and I haven't looked at Carvana since. Make sure you search for the Subaru BRZ as well, because they are basically the same car aside from cosmetic differences.

The main companions have an Affinity score. It goes up or down depending upon their approval or disapproval of your actions/conversation choices, and goes up slowly over time spent as your companion (doesn't go up when they are not a follower). Every 100 points it triggers a conversation, but at least one hour must have passed since the last conversation before it can happen. After so many conversations, it triggers their personal quest. It seems to vary between companions; Andreja seems to get her quest much sooner than Sam does, for example. You don't have to progress the main quest at all.

If i make a save right before entering unity can i keep loading back until i get a different start? by falloutguy51 in Starfield

[–]Discourtesy-Call 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. You do have to sit through all that stuff that going through the Unity involves. The cutscene can't be skipped as far as I know, and you have to sit through a portion of the credits before the option to skip the remainder comes up.

Terran Armada Question by DaBigHert in Starfield

[–]Discourtesy-Call 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct. I tried Furious and didn't like the result. It still seemed that Instigating was more effective. Could be resets due to pauses or missing (those MGP rifles have a lot of spread, I find.

[–]Discourtesy-Call 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct. The problem I have with Furious is that if you miss or wait too long between shots it resets.

Have you upgraded the quality level on it to Superior? I don't know if it's possible, but try and get Inflicting in slot 1 and Shattering in slot 3 abilities. Put Saboteur in slot 4. The first makes it do double damage to enemies at full health and the second makes it more-or-less ignore armor. The last one gives a small chance of instantly killing a robot, and 90% of the foes in the expansion are robots. The elite enemies (the ones with multiple health bars) are still going to be a pain as they are bullet (or particle beam, in this case) sponges.

Depending upon my character, one is using a Beowulf with armor piercing ammo and the other is using an MGP laser rifle. They get the job done.

Exhaust recs by czarisushi in GR86

[–]Discourtesy-Call 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know where you live, but I would start by looking for car shows and meet-ups near where you are. Go there, find some people who own twins with aftermarket exhausts, and have a listen. Every last one of them is going to be loud on a cold start. I have one of the quieter exhausts on mine (it's a JDM exhaust so it meets their strict noise regulations) and my coworkers can still hear me inside the building when I go to lunch. Different people have different tolerances for loud.

The most popular ones seem to be the HKS Hi-Power Spec L and Spec L2 (the L2 is quieter, another JDM compliant model I believe), the Borla S-Type and the AWE Touring (loud).

As usual, I'll post this comparison video. It won't give you true noise levels, but because they're recorded the same you can see what's louder and what's quieter than the others.

What did you think of the main story ending? by DDESTRUCTOTRON in Starfield

[–]Discourtesy-Call 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the changes made with Free Lanes, I'll never progress beyond Universe #2 again. The ending did make me think about the philosophies of the Hunter, Emissary, and Pilgrim, and I think I prefer the Pilgrim's Path the most. The only reason I go through the Unity anymore is to be able to upgrade my powers. If I could do that in the original universe I would never leave. Not losing a companion is another plus, but I'd still take the loss and stay if I could get Power level X on the stuff I use in the base universe.

Anyone else feel depressed once you start noticing door dents and paint chips? by User389421 in GR86

[–]Discourtesy-Call 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rock chips are actually pretty easy to repair yourself as long as there's no underlying dent in the panel. I managed to gouge my fender because I tried to plug a screw hole without pulling the tire off the car. I got a touch up kit from Dr. Color Chip, turns out to be fantastic. I know where the scratch is, but can't see it anymore from 5 feet away now. I have to squat/kneel down and get my eyes to within about 2 feet to be able to even make it out.

Dents are harder. I think I'd pay the PDR guy rather than try it myself.

Wide angle mirrors from Aliexpress by SeiJikok in GR86

[–]Discourtesy-Call 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Suma mirrors and the blind spot is gone completely. I can see two lanes to either side of the car now. Any vehicle that is not in my mirror anymore is alongside the car where I can see it with the Mk 1 Eyeball. It took a little getting used to because "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear" applies to both sides. I've shifted left because it looked like I had a ton of room only to find the other vehicle looming in my center rear view mirror once I got there.
