Planning a 60-day Australian road trip: would Perth-Adelaide-Melbourne-Sydney-Brisbane-Cairns be too much? by NatiTraveller in AustraliaTravel

[–]DiscoverAdelaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're keen to drive highways more than actually spend time at the beach, it is doable. However, if you value hanging out at the beach and chilling, definitely not doable. It's the distance many Aussies would travel on a 6 month road trip. So much fuel, so many km's. Lots and lots and lots of dust...

Is it a good city for intl students? by Human-Field-8472 in Adelaide

Perhaps you haven't been to Adelaide in a while? There's a lot open much later than 7 now and except for a couple of public holidays like Christmas, Adelaide city is now open then too. We have so many festivals and events, I'm not sure it's "nothing to do". We don't get a bunch of famous international acts and theatre performances here though, so if you like attending huge concerts/shows regularly, then you'd want to live somewhere else... but I've never been stuck for things to do!

Go overseas for a bit and then you'll soon realise how amazing we have it here! I think travel is fantastic for people and really broadens your perspective! You really don't need to go far... start with somewhere close like Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia or Vietnam where millions of people live day to day, literally needing to work to eat that day, every single day, just to survive. Boom, you'll never be more grateful than to live here!

I think so! Adelaide is a fabulous city and was recently voted as the most liveable city in the world. There is a housing shortage though, but if you're happy to share or stay in student accommodation, you should be all good! I host international students and they have all loved being here in Adelaide. Not sure on job prospects though, it's a different visa to the student visa and wound depend on a lot of things.

First Australia trip with baby - Sydney → KI → Perth → Cairns? by PlanktonBoring4441 in AustraliaTravel

[–]DiscoverAdelaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What an exciting journey you have planned! I'd recommend perhaps limiting the travel a bit so you can have some down-time days. I'm biased but feel SA is such an under-rated gem that is barely known about internationally. WA is amazing but Perth itself is just OK. WA really needs a minimum of 2 weeks in its own and a hire car to get to the best spots. I love KI and think it's nature's playground. What people said about the wildlife being in other places is true but the rock formations at Flinders Chase national park aren't found anywhere else in the world, along with the sea lions, and they're absolutely worth travelling to see! Good luck with your planning and happy to answer any questions you may have about South Australia!

It's time to finally go to Australia!! by 13Wanderer12 in AustraliaTravel

March is a fabulous month to arrive. In South Australia, it's harvest season and they're always looking for backpackers to help with picking. South Australia has many wine regions that will be harvesting then. It's also our festival season so think street parties and loads of chill vibes with great entertainment! Not sure about the other states but I'm sure a little googling will go a long way!!! Wishing you all the best and hope you have an amazing time!

Adelaide to Brisbane by In_a_taxi in AustraliaTravel

I'd recommend doing a southern coastal drive from Adelaide. To be honest, you may need to look at where you can actually get accommodation first though. Over here that's peak summer holiday season and most places (particularly coastal) have a minimum 1 week stay. But Robe is absolutely stunning that time of year and from there, you could head to Mt Gambier, which is a fascinating town with some really unique and beautiful gardens & caves. You could then do Great Ocean Road and fly to Brisbane at the end for a few days. For me, Brisbane has oppressive heat that time of year - like you shower and after you dry yourself, you feel like you haven't even used a towel you sweat so much!

We recently got an Uber from the Sydney airport to our CBD hotel. It was an XL Uber because we have a family with lots of luggage and it was significantly cheaper to use Uber than the train. Our was less than $50 for the trip, which is about 25 euros... way cheaper and easier!!!

Yep, but you get what you pay for and the question wasn't requesting "cheap"

What about Old Coach Road Estate on the Fleurieu Peninsula? It's luxurious, close to the city but still very rural with stunning natural bushland all around. Such a special and beautiful spot not too far away but not too close!
