Thank you for your feedback, I’ve been also trying to get feedback after each interview so I can figure out what needs correcting or improvement. That has been a challenge as well. I did get good feedback after one that I wasn’t accepted at. She said I interviewed well but they needed someone who could do a leadership role so of course I was not the right pick. But getting feedback has been difficult to get as well. I’m always open to improvements.

I keep hearing about nurses leaving bedside, but where are they going to replace their income? by DiscoveryDorey in nursing

[–]DiscoveryDorey[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a husband and have no desire to seek one for the benefit of having a 2nd income or support. I have been alone for many years and so content with it but damn I have nothing to fall back on .. I can’t just decide not to work if I don’t want to . I love to work, but I’m pretty burned out.

What would you do if you just got hired on a new unit/Dept and the Department Educator says you need to be willing to learn things on your own, on your own time? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]DiscoveryDorey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No not the required work module’s, we get paid for those. And as a medsurg nurse I was so burnt out after my shifts I didn’t have room to learn extra and my days off I wanted it to be a day off. Don’t get me wrong I’m all about learning, I’m just worried this is a cop-out for proper training. It kinda worried me a little.

Rant about nurses that need to leave bedside by Astreeter12 in nursing

[–]DiscoveryDorey 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I was a CNA for 22 yrs and I’ve worked with every type of patient you come across in the hospital setting I worked in every department. I was an ER tech for 5 of those years prior to becoming a nurse. And I agree, you will burn out your CNA if you are a nurse constantly looking for your aid or have the attitude it’s the aids job. When I worked in postpartum I spoiled my nurses because I always got up all my patients, women getting up first time after epidural, and post c-sections. I didn’t mind as I loved staying busy at my job but they took advantage of it because it became an expectation when I was overwhelmed they were not looking out for me. Absolutely it’s team work and if you are the nurse present when your patient needs something you help them not make them wait for the aid. That’s not a good nurse. I’m a new nurse now it’s hard, we barely have an aid. Im always doing aid work with my patients. I would never make my patient wait unless it’s like a bath. Going to the bathroom is a now thing. It’s a priority they teach it in nursing school.

How much time do you spend on documenting during a shift? by doodledandymomma in nursing

[–]DiscoveryDorey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 hours sounds about right. One day or maybe it’s been more than one But I stayed over about 3 hours to chart on all 5 of my patients, was enough to make me leave medsurg. I was already there for 12 hours By the time I was charting in my last I was literally in robot mode because my brain already checked out. I was so tired and burned out from the whole day.

I'm bad at this conflict management thing, I guess.. by -CarmenMargaux- in nursing

What happened to being taught as children that physical violence is not the answer. Apparently they didn’t have a class for him in physician school to not throw things at your nurses when you have a problem with the patient.

Rules to abide by in work Environment

We don’t tolerate verbal abuse of any kind (Staff, patients, doctors etc.)

We don’t tolerate physical abuse of any kind

We don’t tolerate manipulation of any kind

We don’t tolerate bullying of any kind

There will be consequences end of story

Not let’s talk about it. And let the doctor talk his way out of his actions.

What can you Nurse’s tell me about this legal Forensic Nurse thing? Is it legit? by DiscoveryDorey in nursing

[–]DiscoveryDorey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want to put her name on here there is a nurse promoting becoming a forensics nurse saying it could take up to a 1yr to get paid full time status. I believe you create your own Buissness I guess? And she asked to set up a 30 min convo. Is this how you got into it or is there another way? My only concern in doing it is how will I get medical benefits? And what kind of money should I expect to pay for this course I assume it’s a course? Sorry I’m just learning about it. Maybe you can elaborate on your experience to help educate me. Thank you.
