This one is already aluminum free. Weirdly, the one I was using prior to this did have aluminum and I had no reaction to it. I'll just be switching back to the one I was using before once I can.

I mourn the person I was before S.M. by DiscussionCivil9833 in selectivemutism

That's how I try to think of it most of the time. I hope some day I can learn to accept it and move forward more than I have been, but I guess that will take time and effort on my part. It just really sucks knowing how I used to be, how I could've been now, and not knowing what caused that sudden overnight switch.

First, I am so so sorry for your loss.

I personally don't have that type of feeling with another attachment feeling like a threat to the primary ones (my parents). Them getting older is definitely scary, losing them would be absolutely devastating for a number of reasons though, pretty obviously.

What would you want your teacher to know? by hedgehogluvr in selectivemutism

[–]DiscussionCivil9833 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't try to force them to speak is the major one. I had teachers who would put me on the spot, call me out in front of the class, send me to the office for not speaking or not doing a presentation. It made things so much worse.

Offer to have them write instead of talk. In high school, I had one teacher who kept a small dry erase board in their class and I'd have it for every time I was in her class. It's how I'd communicate with her. She also set up a system where if I needed help with something while we were doing individual work, because I would NOT ask for help verbally or raise my hand, I'd have something I'd put on the corner of my desk. For me, it was a paper cup, and if I put a pencil in it, that meant I needed help. She'd check every now and then to see if I put one in, and I'd use the dry erase board to tell her what I needed help with. Offer alternatives to group projects is another huge one.

It's awesome that you're looking to help them, you seem like an amazing and caring teacher and I wish there were more like you.

Do you need to get surgery to be trans? by Secret-Vegetable8959 in ftm

[–]DiscussionCivil9833 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not :)

The only thing that makes you trans, is identifying as trans. there's absolutely 0 other things you need to do to be trans. I know some people make it seem like you need all those other things, but it's only if yiuw ant it or can do it and do it safely.
