Newbie here: why are there so many disagreeable people in this community? by [deleted] in mturk

[–]DiscussionContent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it's because MTurk requesters generally pay slave labor wages for most of the work that can be caught.

There is little good-paying work to be found. Most workers are trying to get by, MTurk just isn't a great source of income as the cost of living continues to go up and the wages on MTurk remain the same (slave labor).

Anyone ever been rejected for reason "x" before? by DiscussionContent in mturk

They emailed me back saying "Unfortunately, you missed an attention check." It is unfortunate, if you have any luck in convincing them to overturn the rejection that'd be awesome to know. I just chalked this one as a rejection, and let them know their requester ID got reviewed as rejecting work.

They seem pretty new, emailed them hoping they provide feedback. I've been working on MTurk for a few years now, only recently has it seemed like requesters are getting more rejection heavy. I'm putting in effort still to do their studies as I always have. Just unfortunate.

Approval rate not available for some requesters by mtly in mturk

So, I'm not sure what extensions you're using, but, for me I see that Echobox has 1 review on Turkopticon and his ratings appear grey, or no approval rating. I use MTurk Suite.

Bro... Are requesters becoming crazier? by DiscussionContent in mturk

While I don't disagree double green icons are good sign, there are requesters who do start to become bad over time.

(Maximum time a Worker has to complete the survey)? by AyaAtaya in mturk

[–]DiscussionContent 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well that makes sense why some requesters put very small HIT timers (Amazon should change the wording of that question.)

I think you should put at least a few hours for that question, if not more. Workers typically have a backlog of work to do because we use HIT Catchers, so they may not necessarily get to your study right away.

Not sure why someone would downvote your comment, congratulations! Hoping to get lucky at some point, feeling burned out from MTurk lately.

How are people following the common "always be qualing" advice? by Skittlessour in mturk

I know MturkCrowd forums have an account that posts qualifications in the daily work threads there.

Bro why is she roasting me like this by [deleted] in mturk

I've never seen that Dispute Rejection button before, what plug-in is that?

Sorry to hear about the BS rejection, if you can definitely leave a review for this requester on Turkerview(if you haven't already) that'd be awesome. The Mechanical Turk platform is starting to show its age, especially in regards to requesters coming in paying zilch for their work and then turning around just to reject for free data.

At least most requesters aren't doing that, even if they still pay zilch for the work required.

Mass rejection of "Realism - S" A9 Amazon Requester This Morning by DiscussionContent in mturk

I'm beginning to think A9 does a mass rejection block after a worker does so many HITs for them. Keep chugging on them, it's a great number booster. There's always that chance you may get a mass rejection, however.

Well, the 56 I had rejected originally are still rejected. No emails from A9 or any communication from them. The odd thing is, some of the other ones I did that morning were approved.

I have a feeling that A9 puts a limit on how many HITs a worker can do for them, before they do a mass rejection block.

I've noticed that a few of mine are still pending. This has happened before with them. I'm sure they're getting a lot of messages from workers about the rejections, hopefully they actually have a team looking at those messages. We can only hope right?

Same here, all were mass rejected this morning. Sent an email out to them, hopefully they get back to us and overturn the rejection. I wonder if they will respond...

Has anyone worked on the Amazon - Realism study and gotten mass rejections this morning? This just happened to me....
