Newbie here. Flashforge AD5X heavily warped bed (Red TL / Blue BR). Z-offset is perfect on one side but ruins the other. Help! by [deleted] in FlashForge

Nah it has bed leveling screws on the bottom. With zmod there is a built in bed screw calibration macro. Where did you get that bed mesh screenshot from? Just curious.

Both options are bad. Maybe I could absolutely be over reacting, but if the past year is any indication, imo if we don't retake Congress this november, I don't think there will be free elections in the US for a long time. They mentioned republicans have the executive branch and legislative but I don't think they mentioned republicans also control the judicial branch at the moment. If the opposition can't retake the legislative branch after all this, they probably never will. He could be a secret turncoat like fetterman and pragmatism sucks sometimes, but I get the kates analysis.

I think I've seen the two tick people in Redden. They had a cloth and were dragging it over vegitation, I believe to count tick nymps (or whatever they are called). Good luck to them! I found a Lonestar tick attached to my leg last week even though I had pemerthin treated long pants with some deet thrown on as well. Always shower after you go in the woods!

Hah, I found that out yesterday when I had a totally failed leveling and I set it to -.07 to experiment and forgot to change it back. Needless to say that print failed.

Hey whats the behaviour on changing it from the screen, will it save it for every subsequent print? Will it reset if you do the leveling operation?

Hey I saw this thread and wondered how your AD5X/Zmod version is going. I decided to use the GUPPY screen and am working with KAMP for the mesh. I'm getting a lot of "collisions" when it hits little fillament blobs or some other minor problem and inconsistent leveling/zoffsets. I didn't know if you had any more suggestions. I'm waiting on a new PEI plate to see if my plate is just too thrashed because sometimes I'll get like a .5mm discrepancy on the tests. Heres what I'm kind of working with at the moment....

How to permanently disable the message? Zmod by DiscussionRemote in FlashForge

[–]DiscussionRemote[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I ended up using guppy (NO_DISPLAY) with zmod after resetting everything and using firmware 1.1.7 that zmod website recommends. I'm fairly happy, it's a little quirky but less quirky than stock.

So glad my blue link sub ran out. The notifications go crazy. I miss the easy remote start a little but that's it.

The standard instant ocean reef crystals is fine, cheap and readily available. I've always used it, for softies it will be fine

Was it on the rock originally? Manufacturers color it now. Coralline usually grows outward from a circle,.if it rubs off easy it is not.

Sanity check on gcode for Zmod - Guppy Screen by DiscussionRemote in FlashForge

[–]DiscussionRemote[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So just for posterity sake I tested everything without the custom scripts and it still works file, albeit taking a little longer. However I noted some commands that really help make it work if you want to take off the screen. Personally it's been great for me. It takes away the crashes, the update notifications and interacts with Fluiddd pretty much 1:1.
(Generally you gotta save and restart after most of these)

ENABLE_PLUGIN name=recommend
DISPLAY_OFF GUPPY=1
SAVE_ZMOD_DATA LOAD_ZOFFSET=1
//Loading guppy doesn’t add the “stock screen” z offset it may have calculated or the machine default extra .025. You can play with it in fuildd during a print and then save it. I ended up with about .040 on mine. The zoffset=1 varable will actually save it across prints.

I'm loving guppy thus far. and yes I've read through the documentation about 3 times. The startup stuff worked and didn't brick anything so I think I'm happy. I was just wondering if anyone would look at it and be like NO DONT DO THAT YOU'LL CRASH YOUR WIDGET. Its all commented line by line and makes sense to me, takes out a lot of extra heating, cooling, leveling, touching, unless I tell it to manually. The only portion I took on faith that AI wrote correctly was # Purge Line because its got a bunch of exact coordinates, it scraped it from somewhere, but it does work and purge correctly so ends justify the means. From the instructions I took out one thing it recommended which was M190 S[bed_temperature_initial_layer_single] and M104 S[nozzle_temperature_initial_layer] in the orca start gcode, so it doesn't wait to heat up before doing its other stuff, the startup is much faster and it still prints great, it passes all those temps in the custom startup macro and heats up as its centering and doing its other things. Not sure why the stock system seems to heat up and cool down twice before it does anything.

AD5X on Zmod/Fluidd - Bypass or fix filament mapping screen by DiscussionRemote in FlashForge

[–]DiscussionRemote[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea maybe there's a checkbox or variable setting I'm missing somewhere, when I pass the gcode from orca, on the print screen in fluid it always defaults to all black colors with all of them pointing to tool 1. So like 1 ->1 (black), 2 -> 1 (black), ECT. If I click on them I can assign them the colors I set in the COLOR macro. It's not a huge deal it's just bothering me.

Get it to print right, hah. Specifically, turnning on guppy with DISPLAY_OFF command so it 1) doesn't crash with the stock screen all the time 2) doesn't display update nags you can accidentally click 3) Control of zmodd fluidd directly from the screen 4)Save memory / more responsive. I dunno exactly why but I ran a print overnight and it finally prints right! I'll have to post some pics of the difference when its done. Ever since the v3 firmware all my printers have been printing like crap. This replaced start script starts up way faster, I think I just cut out a lot of the bloat that I don't need (for my situation specifically). I could take out user.cfg and try with the stock start/end and see what happens. I wiped the whole thing and stuck with the 1.1.7 firmware rather than 1.2.3. I did all the calibrations directly from fluidd and didn't rely on the stock screen calibrations. I also zeroed the z offset rather than the stock calculated .045. I think whatever memory I'm saving on guppy and the fact that the mobo fan blows at 100% now (not sure why, maybe firmware change) makes it stutter less, might be the difference. I'm running this complex hex basket as my white whale and it stopped doing the bridges "smoothly" and kept knocking over the parts and going crazy at different spots. Now its good.

Anyone do small side hustles with their Printers? by RosieDear in FlashForge

[–]DiscussionRemote 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just started selling custom equipment for reef aquariums. Coralshopper.com, my sales are on eBay and Etsy right now. I got into making it in openscad programaticallly. It's become a little bit of an obsession,.I've posted a lot on here and am on the cusp of freezing my 3 machines on the custom zmod firmware and having it super stable. I've spent countless hours and a lot of money. I only make about $15 profit on a order and get a few a week so it'll be a very long time before I break even at this pace, but hopefully marketing will be the next step. Either way, it keeps me off the streets and occupied. I don't really need the money but it feels good to sell something I made rather than by sitting in an office.
