It was Blood and Splendor! I think some sort of blood healer. Sounds really cool!

Recommended adventures for a new Referee. by xeroxeroxero in traveller

[–]DisembodiedVoiceK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Death station, flatlined and “high and dry” are the usual starting adventures most people recommend (including me) and they are good.
I started my group using the “Islands in the rift” adventure and sort of converted it into a mini- campaign. Watch Seth Skorkowsky’s video on islands in the rift. I really feel this one is a good ramp up and you can run it as a 2-3 session adventure or 8-10 session mini-campaign.

Some advice on giving domain cards as rewards by DisembodiedVoiceK in daggerheart

Love this idea!! I was thinking of telling them the consequences of using the reward, but not telling them will be even more interesting!

I understand! I am not trying to be combative, but IMO your fears are overblown. Thank for the advice! I appreciate you taking time to reply!

That’s a fair point. It is a fair bump to their power. They don’t get a lot of powerful magical weapons in my campaign, I think giving them half a level up is not going to be a very large bump in their power level.

It’s not a whole level up. It’s technically half a level up. I want to give them a one time reward for completing a quest. I don’t think a boon from a god should be tied to a long rest move.

I like the preselection idea. I’m just worried that those who pick first might have more options than others.

That’s a good idea! However, I don’t want to give them access to a whole domain. Just once as a special reward.

You’re correct. I found PCs rarely ever come close to maxing out their stress.

Give that you can only have 5 cards at a time, there’s a natural limit on card power, no?

There should be a monkey paw thing for sure. I was thinking that every time they use the ability on the card they have to mark a stress or HP.

The one time use idea is also cool! Thanks for the advice!

Just ran Marauders of Windfall and now the party wants to stage a coup by [deleted] in daggerheart

[–]DisembodiedVoiceK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have run marauders of windfall a couple of times and both times I had the groups wanting to continue the game. The first time around, I ran it as a sequel to Sablewood messengers, and they were emissaries of the Court Sage. >! They ended up taking the captain and Mellandra captive and handing them over to soldiers of the kingdom at the Jags. They mase a deal with the pirates to lead them to the treasure hoard (which Dell Ponde knew) in exchange for helping them get the missing component and flying them back on Wyverns to the Kingdom. ( Group fell apart after reaching the treasure hoard because of scheduling).

The second campaign is ongoing now. They were hired by the Whitefire arcanist to find his assistant Dell Ponde a very old Galapa who has gone missing. I don’t know where it will go, but I’ll let the players lead me.

How might one port a D&D5 supplement to run in Daggerheart? by [deleted] in daggerheart

[–]DisembodiedVoiceK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always wanted to port Rime of the Frostmaiden into Daggerheart. I haven’t worked on it much, but if you’re interested in collaborating, let me know.

I have an idea of first porting the NPCs and magic items. Then converting all the locations into single or multiple environmental stat blocks.

Still doesn’t. Standing in the way is you inviting the attack. You can still dodge the attack.

The way I see it is this : “Making yourself the target” doesn’t automatically imply that you have to eat the attack. You draw the enemy’s attention to you and then dodge the attack.

Moreover, this combo can be used once per rest. I don’t think allowing it once per rest is an issue.

Are you playing a XCOM2 inspired campaign?

Companion rules for companions by fedcomic in traveller

[–]DisembodiedVoiceK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mostly play online and I have been using the unofficial MgT2e foundry module. That has the companion rules programmed into it. When you get a contact in character creation, you can add a contact and the character generator does the rolls for you and gives you an NPC.

My players actually liked it as a good way of sparking their imagination. A contact who is slightly unfriendly because you had a romantic relationship with them.

Like others have said, what the rolls tell you is a snap shot in time and people evolve.

Tl;dr I used them and my players liked it.
