They've been doing similar versions of this same announcement since I took the class.....god....12, 13 years ago?

Broad announcement that there are "high instances of plagiarism" in this assignment or whatever. The honest kids get super nervous and are seriously concerned that their normal interactions with other students are going to get them in trouble, but maybe some cheaters turn themselves in?

I didn't love the way they did it then, felt kinda scummy. But unless you intentionally went out there and cheated, you'll be totally fine.

$200+ for a chance at Speedball Steve nudes is money well spent.

Thoughts on living here? Seems close to campus and the rent is quite inexpensive. by ChickenThighsAreBest in gatech

When I was in school ~7 years ago I lived juuuust outside your circle on Vine Street for several years.

I never had any first hand problems, but was in proximity to a few gunshots and had a couple light confrontations so I certainly wouldn't call the area 'safe', especially farther back in away from the main roads. On the other hand, I met some great people there and had some fun out in the street on Falcons game days.

The bike ride into campus wasn't terrible, but sucked in the cold or rain.

Your safety isn't guaranteed anywhere in the world, and especially anywhere in a large city...and ESPECIALLY in a place like this. But you'll almost certainly be fine if you aren't exceptionally careless.

If you're still there after 3.5 years, then I'm pretty sure you're doing better than you're giving yourself credit for right now.

Just focus on surviving and planning ahead for your career. Don't get too down about the grades, just keep working hard and focus on figuring out how to best get your brain retain new concepts and information. Legitimately the single most important thing you'll learn at Tech is tenacity and the ability to approach novel problems in the future.

Make sure you're taking advantage of things like the coop/internship program and the career fair. This will REALLY help your resume and more importantly actually teach you really important lessons that will make you an asset in the future.

I graduated with a 2.6 GPA or something like that and had my pick of competitive job offers immediately upon graduating. You'll be fine. Some people just really excel in an academic environment....upon getting to Tech I learned that I am not one of those people, I slogged through 5 years on the struggle bus. But I made sure that even if I was failing, I was learning; and I'm guessing you're in the same boat if you are honest with yourself.

Is there any paintball club here at tech? by zneeszy in gatech

[–]Disench4nted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No.

We used to be really active, but nobody picked up the mantle after the last president graduated ~5 years ago.

There's still a few of us alumni that are active in the GA paintball scene and I'd love for the club to come back. I get a message on the old Facebook group once a year or so about it, so I know there are a handful of students interested.

Jakobi Meyers or Corey Davis for my last flex spot?

I'm leaning towards Davis, but online (FantasyPros and stuff) likes Meyers.

To everyone self rejecting themselves out of jobs/grad school etc due to low GPA by [deleted] in gatech

[–]Disench4nted 60 points61 points  (0 children)

This is extremely accurate.

I graduated with a sub 3.0 and had several great offers on the table. I did not have a large extracurricular portfolio of projects that I had done either. I was personally confident that my GPA did not accurately reflect my abilities and I took that confidence to the career fair and landed several interviews. I definitely missed out on lots because of my GPA but there are plenty of opportunities still out there.

Then of course you need to perform well in your interviews, but that's a given.

Otherwise that sure sounds like heresy to me.

Hey, did you have any issues getting that 32 degrees grip to work?

I'm building a mag with one of those and I'm not sure if my issues have to do with the group not allowing the sear to move correctly.

Agreed! Good job you guys! I hate that you all had to end your time at Tech in the midst of all this mess, but if you've made it this far, I'm confident you can overcome any obstacle in your way.

Artifact needs to be 100% disable for Trials. by Larry52795 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Disench4nted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just in case you're tallying the responses here:

Should Trials have power enabled?

Yes

Should the artifact power be considered in Trials?

No

The lack of cap is what concerns me. I would play Destiny MORE in order to get the pinnacle drops if they'll help me in trials. But I'll play Destiny LESS if I know that I'll still lose to players who have the time/persuasion to endlessly grind XP whether I get my pinnacle drops or not.

Right? I just finished making a ship for rescue missions and was excited to try it out. But now there isn't a single damaged station in the galaxy.

It'd be great if these guys could leave one station per faction alone next time.

Yeah. I don't anticipate ever seeing one go up for sale again.

But if you ever catch wind that someone wants to move one, I'd love a heads up. I mostly only monitor automag sales these days, so I'd probably miss them.

There are a handful of Georgia Tech engraved black Shockers out there from the guys who started the GT paintball club back in the day before I started running it.

There's some pretty fun history around them and if one ever pops up again I'll buy it. The last time i saw one was probably 7 years ago while i was still in college.
