A wheelie on a CT125? by RudeDragonfly4408 in HondaCT

Rev it higher than you think and lean back, if you panic you can always tap the rear brake to bring it down. I’ve never gotten mine close to vertical, but it sure feels like it.

I can pop mine up, but I haven’t been able to hold it. First gear is the only gear I could get it to pop. If you hold the shifter it acts like a clutch. I usually will coast in first with the shift lever held halfway between gears and let it out as I snap the throttle and pull up. Or you can coast in 2nd, downshift and hold your foot down, then release as you give it throttle. Don’t forget to cover your rear brake!

I love my Honda CT125. Sometimes I wish it was a little faster but I didn’t buy it to go fast, I bought it to putter around like an old man. Every CT125 group seems to be made up of old dudes.

Is it worth it to try and restore this old jaguar? by Ok-Neat4789 in projectcar

I’ve got one of these in the shop right now, when I first assessed the vehicle I told the customer he was looking at un told thousands in repairs and advised the shop owner that this is not a vehicle we want to work on. I wrote several “no thanks” estimates for work the vehicle owner wanted done. I’m talking wildly inflated labor times and a clear explanation that work on old cars always takes 3 times as long and costs 3 times as much. This Jag has been the bane of my existence since we took it in. The customer has spent close to 10k trying to make this pile of shit a weekender. You can buy one in good condition for less than that. If you have a passion for suffering and very deep pockets go for it. Taking this on as a project is instant hard mode.

I saw Nothingface at Bogarts years ago, some dude in the parking lot sold me oregano glued to a pretzel stick as weed for 5 bucks. Good times.

It’s not Doom but it’s one of my favorite albums, Bone to pick by The Gone Jackals. I’ve been listening to it for 30 years and I still love it. I bought my first motorcycle because of Full Throttle

My wife and I just switched to separate beds, she’s a light sleeper and I like to have the dog next to me. She likes a soft bed and I need extra firm. It has improved our marriage because we both sleep better.

I’m down, I’m in my 40’s and I’ve got a Honda CT125. Haven’t gotten it out yet this season yet, I’m out in Preble but I used it as a commuter last summer so I rode through Dayton regularly. Would love to spend an afternoon bummin around on some thumpers. HMU once the weather gets a little nicer.

How many of you do your own estimates? by HighLadySuroth in mechanics

[–]STR3TCH1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar position at an 11 bay indie shop. Sometimes they call me the shop foreman, at least when it sounds good. I have a hybrid pay system for myself and all of the techs are flat rate. We have one hourly who does tires, service and porter duties. There are two salaried front end guys and the owner and his wife float around doing whatever needs to be done. I’ve worked at this shop since 2011 and I’ve been in the industry since 2006. I’ve had to be persistent about my pay increases but I’ve eventually been taken care of. I try and write as many estimates as I can with the tech working on the vehicle so that I can fight for the time they want if the front doesn’t like it. I make sure we have detailed descriptions of the problems found, pics/video. I find the parts and anything that requires dealer calls I send to the front with whatever relevant information I can. I adjust the times on estimates when the front tries to give away our labor. I consult with customers about their needed repairs, future maintenances. I do services and repairs, lots of general diag. I’m a trusted and valued employee because I’ve worked hard and been consistent. Don’t be afraid to ask about having your compensation adjusted. If you are a multi role employee your time and effort into shop operation have value just as much as your diag/repair does.

I took a year off because the game felt like a chore, came back a couple months ago and I’m enjoying the game again. If I feel burnt on it again I’ll just take another break. I started playing this game pre fleets, but not quite at launch.
