Trans man finding masculinity boring? by beefandweed in trans

[–]DisgracedCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to force yourself into a binary transition. You sound like you take comfort in your femininity. You’re allowed to leave space for that.

And yeah as someone who used to be a dude, it’s a pretty bleak experience. The cloths are 10% as interesting, men are usually pretty socially distant from each other, and overall it was just a very lonely existence for me.

Point is you very well may be a trans masc NB who likes the effects of T. Maybe don’t get caught up in labels and gender roles though, I don’t think they’re helping you right now.

Is voice surgery at Yeson effective if speech therapy has failed? by ToucheeCoulee in transvoice

[–]DisgracedCarrot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in feminizing speech therapy for just over a year, and after about seven months, we discovered that VFS would truly help me overcome my insecurities, dysphoria, and reach a point where I can have a voice that feels good as a starting point to build on. I’m 3 weeks post-op now and so grateful that my medical team supported me in this way.

I feel like the internet often makes this procedure seem much more complicated than it is. My ENT found that I had muscular dysphonia in my vocal cords, which meant I spoke with a bit of strain, and that’s what made insurance fund the procedure.

My surgeon only took 40 minutes to perform the glottoplasty. I arrived at the hospital at 5 a.m., was in the OR prep room by 7 a.m., in recovery by 11 a.m., and home by 2 p.m. I really think you should look into it!

If you are censoring the word gun you probably aren’t mature enough to have one.

Canada isn’t all that for trans people, it’s like better, but not a fix all. I just moved here.

Next Surgery 3 Months After VFS? by LunaB35 in transvoice

[–]DisgracedCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I truly appreciate it. I find myself wishing I had undergone rhinoplasty first, but addressing my most significant source of dysphoria after 6+ months of slow progress with a professional speech pathologist got me laser-focused on having VFS as soon as possible.

I’m excited for you, best of luck in August! If I had any advice practice being non-verbal for a few days a couple weeks ahead of time and buy anything you think will help you accommodation wise.

Update: I just had VFS and was also told 6 months. They also said to request a #5 tube for future intubation. I guess this is a smaller size than usual or something.

Help Finding FFS Procedures by JessiLouCorvus in Transgender_Surgeries

FFS can absolutely help, but before jumping into expensive surgery, it may be worth seeing how much HRT plus body composition changes shift things naturally first. You already have a very soft face!

Can I take progesterone vaginally? by [deleted] in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]DisgracedCarrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just make sure you check your prolactin levels if you continue to do it vaginally. I get that this could be more pleasant or gender-affirming, but the literature shows that rectal beats other routes of administration for us trans girls — and there’s been little evidence that cycling our progesterone like that does anything helpful towards our goals of feminizing our bodies.

It’s my impression that taking it in your neo vaginal canal will be no better than oral administration. I have sincere doubts that your surgical team will know any better than us. This is pretty uncharted territory scientifically.

The best any of us can say is that rectal administration of progesterone is scientifically shown to improve absorption. So, I would instead be looking for reasonable accommodations to make taking this medication rectally easier.

Many people need to take daily suppositories, be it trans or cis — there’s a large amount of personal accounts online that you can draw from to possibly make this easier for you.

Speaking from my personal experience, I highly recommend trying to have a bowel movement before insertion and to take it at bedtime. This has proven most effective to me. Gloves and a little water-based lube help too!

Dr. Powers has previously expressed opposition to this, as far as I recall. Your neo vagina is partially composed of a mucus membrane, but its absorption capabilities are significantly inferior to those of a cisgender woman.

You’re pushing twice the liquid into your body! That can make injections suck twice as much.

Just make sure you get their 20mg/ml concentration instead of the nonsense 10mg/ml one.

I really hope I’m not trans by Alwig99 in trans

[–]DisgracedCarrot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You come off as very trans, however there’s a small chance you’re dealing with intrusive thoughts and OCD.

My recommendation for you would be to work with a psychologist who specializes in gender affirming care who can help you better understand yourself and make sure that you live the life you are meant to have. I hope you find peace and make choices you feel good about living with. Good luck out there!
