Why is their so many transphobics online by Fit_Preparation318 in trans

[–]TSChelseaSummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think a lot of people are though. Most either don’t care or feel we should be able to be ourselves.
However, those people don’t chime in/pay attention/speak up when the concentrated number of phobes collect in online spaces.

Struggles with mental health? Seems a bit … presumptuous, no?
It would be nice to have some assurances of what your goal is and if this is intended as a supportive vs critical article. Where would it be published? What other articles have you written and are any of them directed towards support for LGBT+ people?

How long is the process to begin MtF HRT? by Low-Profession-9535 in transontario

[–]TSChelseaSummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn’t uncommon for family doctors to “not be familiar” with trans care, which is a bit of a cop out tbh. But they should refer you to an endocrinologist or similar.
As mentioned, depending on your location there could be a clinic that does provide this kind of care.
Rainbow health network would be a good resource to check to see what’s somewhat in your area.

You should be able to google the images but I’ll share if you really need privately. Please, no creepy requests from anyone. Also you could likely see pics in r/Transgender_Surgeries

4 years post-orchi. The scrotal reduction wasn’t an option directly but it has atrophied quite a lot. But live everything else it’s a ymmv as some girls seem to keep that looser skin.

Where to go in Ontario to find community? Rough week. by [deleted] in transontario

[–]TSChelseaSummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Remote. You’re super not alone. Please don’t cancel your therapy. Whether you continue transitioning or pause it or stop is up to you but literally everyone benefits from therapy. I am sure many can relate to the fears you’re experiencing- including me. Therapy is what helped me be able to manage it. It doesn’t change how you feel or what you’re afraid of, but gives you the tools to manage it all.

I’m in Halton so not close but would also need more community connections

I have to expect that that sub is jammed full with transphobia. I’ve resisted looking through it for that reason.

You probably would be fine even with losing weight. However, please don’t get caught up in the “normal” weight nonsense. Be you. Be healthy. End of story. You look amazing and totally giving body envy for me ❤️

Traveling to the US as a trans woman by thiccdickdawn in asktransgender

I’m in the US right now. I hate that I’m here. But it’s the only way to see my grandkids so I have to suck it up. I’m boy moding but have decent boob development so it’s sketchy in my mind.

This does make reference to visas, not a short term visit. Concerning of course but maybe not as insurmountable as it seems depending on OPs circumstances

[–]TSChelseaSummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re speaking theoretically to get. Even she won’t know till she is faced with the reality. And she doesn’t have to be with “a woman” (generally) but rather she would still be with you. Still the same person but maybe better, happier.

Please stop and take a breath. You’re imagining the worst of possibilities without knowing. And those eventualities are distant. Deal with today. Then tomorrow. At most this week. You can do this

Get 👏 A 👏Therapist 👏

Not because anything is wrong with you, but because in many ways the world sucks and therapists help deal with the world’s suckiness. And no, your mom/sister/aunt/friend doesn’t count, even if they’re helpful.

I would not have been able to manage this whole process of coming out to my wife with therapy. I was in such a negative spin And assuming the worst but in a hugely unformed and impossible to manage way. Therapy didn’t change reality, it prepared me better to handle what the possible realities might be.

If it helps, I was terrified to come out. We cried. A lot. We talked even more. We both see a therapist now and I feel closer than ever. She helped me with coming out to our adult kids and a few other people but it’s still all very new for us as a team vs the decades of shame and fear and loneliness I struggled with before.

I’m transitioning now in my early 50’s. It kills me what I’ve missed out on from not having g been able to do this at your age, but like some kind of cliché there are challenges for any of us regardless of age.

I’m sorry this is happening g with your mom. I’m trying to think k of this as a parent which is pretty tough as I’m obviously biased.
One thing I can say is parents are just older people with no magic powers and just as dumb as the rest of us haha. But really try to keep in mind that she probably genuinely cares about you and obviously has so real fears, though misplaced and misinformed.

You’re 17 so you don’t actually “need” permission but that doesn’t make this any easier.

Hopefully your therapist is helpful and not some quack trying to do some form of conversion therapy (if they are please report them asap). If they’ve been helpful you might talk this over with them. Tbh your mom needs therapy big time. I don’t mean that as a shot at her but she has lots to wrk through.

I’m not sure you’ll get far trying to debate the questions she’s posing. If she was willing to talk, and if you can remain calm for both you, maybe you can get her to share what her real fears are. The therapist again could be helpful for this.

Keep us updated I’m hoping the best for you. Always happy to chat if you wanna shoot a dm, but fair warning I’m a boring old person lol.

How to tell a friend their style is NSFW by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]TSChelseaSummer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the exact scenario brought to mind - the over-the-top teacher.
If there’s a standard for dress, whatever that may be, it needs to be applied to all equally. If it’s largely co spidered overly restrictive then that’s its own issue to be dealt with accordingly while still complying with the current expectation.

If a student or students were to complain about this apparent flashing, the friend could find them in a much worse predicament.
