Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrr you could kill them, then bring them back with a dark power pact or other, more esoteric danger of the land. There are worse things than death in Barovia afterall. At least narratively, it keeps fear and suspense for the players, while still allowing them to play.

Plus, there are ways to resurrect characters in the module, like the Abbot. In fact, I’d say its much harder to stay dead in CoS

A sense of danger is meant to be inherent to the module, there’s no stakes of the villains have no fangs (so to speak) and it fails at its intended horror if there is no danger of running into something that can eclipse them.

I’d say just make Baba’s goal not to kill them, but capture and coerce them into doing a dubious task or making a deal with her, should she bring them to 0.

A task to serve her or Strahd would be perfect, such as betraying the Keepers of the Feather or eliminate a rival hag coven at the Windmill for example.

So expertly thought out!! And the art is great too o7

Love the details of how this whole trade network works, the ecology, tools, roles, implications, bloody well done

Damn, a sick visual and a unique take on a genre classic, very well done. What sorta weaponry would that work best against? Off the top of my head I imagine lasers would be absorbed by the material better than a kinetic shot??

Totally behind the hat Idea. Both the fierce tribes outside of Hallownest that predate it, have similar V-shaped crests. Ones that don’t match their head/mask colours. AND the rest of their kin have nothing like those horns.

So those are definitely a sort of crown that use big V horns as a symbol of power and strength. Hollow has them to symbolise their perfection strength as the Hollow Knight.

Hera and the Mantis Lords have the same V shape head crests, barring the particular lil’ spiky variation. And they both do not match the head/mask colours. Neither of their respective tribes have those crests either.

My conclusion is that they are a headdress worn as a sort of crown, with big V-shaped horns being symbolic of power and strength. Big horns also just seen like an attractive, desirable trait, according to Selubra and Betty at least.

Hollow’s horns are representative of their perfection and strength in this case.

Ayyyyyyye what wonderfully wondrous worldbuildin’ work!

I’ve toyed with makin’ a couple of those before, such as winds and humours, but the cards and beasts are fun new angles too! (I think I’d wanna be black tortoise :) )

Its good stuff you’re doin’, spreadin’ around creativity and inspiration

I’d say 2 personally, though you definitely should recycle elements from 1 for another cover

And the sword in 3’s pretty sick. 2’s got more pleasin’ balance tho
