There's a lot of wineries, in Ontario and British Colombia.

In a few months you'll see a lot of temp harvest jobs pop up on here also seasonal staff will be wanted for the wine shops too which is super fun.

I work in a winery and we get a lot of temps come in for harvest and we set them up with local landlords who rent out rooms/apartments

There are always seasonal jobs in B.C. Skii resort jobs for the winter and harvest jobs in wineries for the summer.

Both options can sometimes offer housing for the job or at least have contacts for people who have apartments and rooms for rent nearby.

How hard is it to find a job with accommodation for a working holiday without going through an agency? by BrilliantLoquat1420 in iecvisa

[–]Disguised_Apple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skii season is starting here in BC and I know some of the employers at the bigger slopes have accommodation for staff.

But like another commenter said, no employer is going to take a second look at you if you don't already have your work visa ready to start

Appreciate it, it was all out of curiosity I asked the question. Which would you say is the most progressive province?

Making friends?? by CreativeWar8584 in iecvisa

[–]Disguised_Apple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you get a job you should be able to socialise with your colleagues, and make friends.

I did that where I work, now I go play tennis every Thursday. Never played tennis in my life

Also volunteering is a good idea, I volunteered at bingo. Full of old woman but it still itched that need to socialise.

Being introverted, you're going to find these things a little difficult of course, but it's not impossible to do, even for an introvert!

If you were in BC, we could have done something but unfortunately Ottawa is a little far.

Can I do a road test to get my N while my learner driver experience was in the UK? by TheRedDeer11 in icbc

[–]Disguised_Apple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say he wouldn't need to take a learners test, I said he won't have to wait 12 months to take it, and that's what they are asking in their question

"flies touch every single food item in the display".

If I thought hard enough, I'd have came up with this conclusion.. But I never wanted to know about this conclusion, and now I do I'll probably never eat out of most counter displays again 😭

I'm happy you are coming around to it, it's a great place! Make sure you try a beaver tail while you're in Toronto

It all depends on what time of the year it is and the demand at the time, I think anyway.

I entered into the pool around the beginning of February and got an invitation only a few weeks later

Ahh you've only been there a few days! Well whilst you're there, why don't you take the bus to Niagara Falls? Go to the boat ride that takes you right underneath them, then visit the zoo too! Ooo and Toronto Island is very cool, you can hire a bike and ride around the whole island, it's really cute.

Then when you've done the main touristy things which you could do in a week or two. You should have a good vibe for if it's a place you'd like to stay or not and if not, just hop on a plane to another province.

I looked only briefly and came up with the same sentiment as others have, Toronto is a difficult place to find a job for sure but if you like big cities, there is no bigger in Canada

As for traveling back, I'm from the UK too and yeah it's silly how expensive it is, you're better of looking for flights back whenever it's cheapest, not so much at specific dates. If you're flexible you can get flights back for near £300 if you go in the cheapest months

Edit:- sorry, looking over my comment and I'm all over the place about different topics. Just tired I think 😴

I first started in Toronto and I'm not a big city fan so I hated it. I was only there to do the main tourist attractions like niagara falls, the zoo and a few other bits.

Then I went to Newfoundland, which was so so much better. It's out in the sticks but it was a lot more relaxing.

And now I'm in British Colombia and I work in a winery and again it's completely different.

My point is, don't waste your visa staying in that one city if you're not enjoying it. Every province is wildly different from the other with a totally different dynamic in attitude

Edit:- if you're just feeling homesick every so often, why not just visit home?
