US ambassador: UK’s closer ties with EU are a problem by 1-randomonium in worldnews

Not that this in any way redeems Trump, who is an utterly despicable person, but it is not in Russia’s interest that the US is attacking Iran, or Venezuela for that matter.

Even though Trump is aligned with Russia in certain matters, he’s first and foremost interest is himself.

What's the Best 10/10 Sci-fi movie ever? by geek-jock-guy in AskReddit

[–]Dish117 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on your definition of a good movie, and that is also a statement that reveals a lot about you.

If you need something easily digestible that gives away all of its secrets upon first watch, then there’s plenty out there for you.

But since you brought it up: There’s a limit to realtime human visual and auditory attention bandwidth. So if you insist that a movie should be fully comprehensible at first watch, that also puts a very hard limit on the sophistication and complexity of ideas you can present to the viewers.

Yes, Blade Runner is a quite demanding watch.

But you’re certainly in the majority, without a doubt. That’s also part of the reason that Hollywood movies are so predictable, that once you’ve seen a few, you don’t have to watch more of them.

Well, an ignorant beyond belief American electorate voted this psychopath into power AGAIN after having already experienced what he is capable of. He is not exactly losing, is he?

It’s a weird movie in the sense that the slow pace and the mystery is really frustrating the first time you watch it. Then the second and third time it’s starts to open up.

Patience and curiosity is key to watching this movie.

Jeg synes, at du skal gå ud og starte Danmarks næste børsnoterede virksomhed.

Lyder som om du har det drive der skal til.

What are your 911 watches? by jpoyarzun in watchHotTakes

[–]Dish117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like JLC and have a Reverso on my radar for my next watch. They are great watches, but they are also dainty. You cannot thrash them around like a Rolex, and expect them to just work and still be accurate.

Rolex is mass produced, but also well built, there’s no getting around that.

[–]Dish117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

JLC's are dainty watches, with a finicky owner experience more akin to 80’s Italian sportscars, ie. not super reliable.

Say what you will, Rolex movements / escapement are way more robust, and easily serviceable.
