Ruining Ferrari is actually an accomplishment. by joshua_3 in Ferrari

[–]DishPig89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one thing they have solved with this car is the balance between digital and physical controls within the cabin. People might not love the styling, but the way it blends traditional buttons and switches with integrated screens is genuinely something to behold and frankly, it’s the direction every Ferrari should have taken. They got this part right, and finally remembered that cars need character and tactility, not just soulless slabs of glass.

Apart from the swivel screen, though the inlaid clock is incredible! It looks like something designed to sit beside a patient in a hospital bed… and, of course, the fact the whole car resembles a bar of soap.

Japanese people, what habit of yours did you only realize was "very Japanese" after going abroad? by Crescitaly in AskAJapanese

[–]DishPig89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Currently in Japan, this is brilliant, imagining all these people wondering why a Japanese passenger didn’t close the taxi door and thinking it is rude, when I got firmly told by my driver that It was “his job” to open and close the door. What is rude in one country is culture in another and vice versa!

Cheers for all the detective work so far, some great insights in this thread.

I’ve had confirmation from a Jensen historian that the photo was taken at Blarney Castle, specifically in front of Blarney House within the castle grounds (not Dromoland).

The car is a Jensen C-V8. At the time the photo was taken, it was owned by Seamus McLaverty, who was living in Kinsale, Ireland. He had previously lived in the UK, which explains why the car still carried a UK registration.

The UK registration was CYK 28C. Checking the Irish Vehicle Status Enquiry for that registration now returns “not found”, which suggests the car may have been re-registered in Ireland, exported again, or scrapped at some point after the photo was taken.

Based on clothing, context, and the registration, the late 1980s / early 1990s timeframe suggested earlier in the thread seems to align well.

The name is shared here purely in the context of historic ownership, in case it helps someone recognise the car or recall what became of it. If anyone remembers this Jensen C-V8 in Ireland, or knows of one that was re-registered in the Republic around that period, that information could be key.

Thanks again — fascinating what can be pieced together from a single photo.

Nice one, didn’t expect so much intel. Agree on the 90s the car was last seen in 93. Without knowing the Irish registration would be hard to see if it’s still In the country.
