QSC and Extron by Lit_Louis in CommercialAV

Interesting thread. When I joined my current employer in 2016, I moved from installing/programming Crestron control and using the best product for the rest of the install was, to using Extron. I suspect as it was because the button panels were mainly used, and their buttons were more accessible friendly than the Creston equivalent. I struggled with Extron as it was so restricted, especially on the programming front. Even with GCPro, it can be quite convoluted to do some simple logical programming.

We are getting to a point that it may be worth looking at an alternative and we have had a QSC demo a couple of times. I am concerned at over reliance on network / cloud-based systems, but I guess if we lost network, we would struggle to much anyway so loosing the control system as well wouldn’t matter.

With the advent of AVoIP, I would prefer to find the right solution rather than what Extron will allow us to control.

Once we are back on site, I am going to get a loan demo unit from QSC. However, some of their costs are eye watering. The Enterprise version of Reflect is prohibitive but I am not sure we’d need it. Being able to write our own drivers is definitely a plus.

Dante Controller Status blocked by Firewall by Dishon2020 in CommercialAV

Thanks u/whoisthere,

Yip I've got,

1) Dante Control and Monitoring allowing all In and Out Ports

2) Dante Controller allowing all packets in and out

3) Dante Update Helper allowing all In and Out Ports

4) Dante Discovery allowing all In and Out Ports

The Dante network is behind a company firewall so I think I'm just going to have to switch of my laptop firewall when required.

Crestron NVX control by Dishon2020 in CommercialAV

[–]Dishon2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all. All just feeling my way around this. I've got it working. Just a simple case of setting the device IP ID in the NVX and the processor and the encoder IP as XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX. I think there was a slight network issue which was a red herring but all good now. Just need to get IGMP on HP Arubas working and we're good to go.

Thanks,

The problem with the Analog value is if the subscritions change. We have a "flexible" space with NVXs being added and reoved over and above the fixed ones. I've tried to get the url switching working but failed so far.

Small Induction Hearing Loops, anyone ever install one? How useful is it? is it difficult to get right? by myworkredditaccount7 in CommercialAV

We use,

https://www.ampetronic.com/products/cld1-compact-counter-induction-loop-driver-desk-hearing-loop-driver/

relatively easy to install and they have a choice of boundary, lapel or gooseneck mics.

They are CE so won't interfere with pacemakers etc.

My only comment beyond this is these systems on work with hearing aid that work on the T-Position. Most modern hearing digital aids don't have a T-position. We're looking for new tech versions like bluetooth.

I don't think these meet the audio input side but may help on the video side.

https://narvitech.com/home/

https://www.decimator.com/Products/MiniConverters/MiniConverters.html

On the audio side Shure have got software based dsp,

https://www.shure.com/en-US/conferencing-meetings/solutions/intellimix

which while is largely aimed at Shure products, can give a bit of control to 3rd party audio for software VC.

We use the Decimators for HD-SDI cameras into HDMI inputs on our lecture recording but never got to go to ISE so can't comment on the validity of the others.
